"Hi can I be a moderator?"
First off, It probably wouldnt be so much fun to be a moderator. If you are a moderator then that means you have to monitor each forum section at least once a day. That means you have to do work. I would guess it wouldnt be fun to edit posts and lock threads.
Second, if you do something bad im sure an admin would quickily take that moderating privilage away.

I could be a moderator, like lonewolf I get on PTT alot of times during the day so I would have a chance to fix alot of things.
Oh, I can see it now. Open the floodgates. "I WANNA BE A MOD!! I WANNA BE A MOD!! I WANNA BE A MOD!! "
But I agree with Gee-Joe. Most of those asking to be mods don't understand what's involved I suspect. It's not just fun and games, it's serious responsibility. I certainly wouldn't want to do it, because I don't have the time to be reading all the wonky posts that show up here all day long. I'm not sure how you mods do it, but thank goodness for you all!
^Lmao
Heres another version:
"Hi cna I b a mod plz plz cna I PLZ AM DEYING TO B A MOD!!!!!!!!!!"
I want to be an moderator and I know the responsability in it and I wouldn't mind but I am not going to spam it I am only saying once or twice then I have made my point.
YA ummm I don't think I really want to be moderator, they are doing a good enough job! I just help out with flame wars that I see forming so this way the who forum isn't locked! But that's no big task! (stopping flamewars I mean)

Ya kinda same for me. My behavior is getting much better and has been greatly changed since I join PTT! But I don't think I will be ever able to join the mods. So I guess currently I really do want to do it.
Vicious, I'm sure many people come here MANY MANY times like you and me. I come here everyday and do nothing but post and make new topics when I'm here. But I really don't think I could be administer and moderator because: too much responsibility, editing and making new topics for every thread if nessasary, and because I think any one of those ranks has to be a whole 2 years experience on this site and oin TT. I joined 2 months ago but I've been playing for 2 years. So, it isn't a matter of fun, it's a matter of duty. I hope that clears up this subject. :)
can I be adm??????
*sigh* 8o
@ DanMac
Thanks man ! Its not easy but I do enjoy at times helping other people.
@ The Rest of You
Being a Moderator is not easy at all. Do you know that my first 2 weeks as a Moderator I spent about 25 - 30 hours reading old threads, cleaning them up,editing them, locking or deleting old pointless threads. Since then I bet I have put in close to 100 hours of work in PTT and thats not counting my play time on PTT ! It is a never ending job to keep these forums clean and safe for all. If you really want to help, email us when you guys find things that need to be taken care of, we Moderators are not perfect. I would like to say thank you to all of you who have helped me make my job easy though by emailing me when you find things wrong. B)

Normally when im bored, I dont play TT (I dont know y, but it will make me even more bored if I was bored allready), I just start checking all the forums, threads etc... I continue bored, thats y I started scripting, it unbores me. :P
Only problem is that normally I dont have any ideas, even if now im trying to learn how to make good guis and make a gui version of my admin script :P (the enter password gui is done and working, but the guis need to be made manually, as TT doesnt like TGE Gui Editor.guis)
I dont know if I do want to be admin, but if that would unbore me, I might like it. :P
If ppl wanted me to be admin (what I fully
doubt) I wouldnt say "no" tough. :P
@Dan:if u every need any help or want a moderator in a european timezone just ask, I have too much time on my hands now I have come out fo retirment on TT

Hey all, we're 12 Moderators thus far, and 3 admins Dan, 56K and the mythical -Z-. Admins are a specie of Mod with Higher Superpowers that can actually zap us Mods out of existence. ::shudder::
We have a private forum. There are already 57 threads in this forum, and hundreds of posts. When a moron emerge, or something big happens, or someone goes on a spam rampage, we post it there for other mods to see, with links, etc.
We chat back and forth. This allowed us to define better Moderation standards, and to keep ahead of things. Some of us would be ruthless hammers, so be happy others cool them off. Don't spam too much for it tickles some Mods into going rabid... ::hint::

I've been getting a lot of emails about this recently and I haven't been able to respond to all of them so I thought I would post a general response here.
In short, PTT does not in my opinion need any more moderators or admins. While not perfect the existing crew is doing a decent job, they certainly aren't overworked (except LONEWOLF who overworks himself, thanks for all the work lone!). Chilled Lizard was recently made a mod but it was a very informal process. After he interviewed me on TT Radio we talked a bit and somehow it ended up with him helping me get the admin scripts for PTT servers up and running. We were having some problems getting it set up on the Mac so I gave him access to the admin forum to help the other mods. I realize this may seem unfair to some of you who I'm sure do excellent work modding and admining servers day in and day out for the community. Believe me when I say I appreciate all you do, even if I don't know the exact details about what is going on. This community could not be what it is wityout you! But the reality of becoming a mod is really not a fair partial process, it's completely subjective to what I need at the time. I do not have the resources to run a fair and partial process by which people can graduate to becoming mods.
I can see there is a need to have some sort of ranks on PTT besides the regular ones that reflect extrodinary contributions to the community, but I can't just promote deserving people (there are plenty) to mods left and right. All roads eventually lead to me on PTT, the moderators act as a buffer to help keep the forums running smoothly so I don't have to be on the site 24/7 watching things. However if there are too many mods it can cause as many problems as not enough mods. If I have to spend all my time managing a large number of mods then it really defeats the purpose of having them.
As mod's move on or loose interest they will be replaced by new mods, but until those things happen I'm reluctant to add any more mods.
Best Regards,
Dan MacDonald
