Hi All,

I am curious to know which P2P client you have used in the past or are currently using. Most of them like Kazaa seem to have that much spyware that it is a nightmare in itself using.

Shareaza is one that markets itself without malware/spyware, and I have been using this one for months. Great tool.

I am not familiar with IRC or BitTorrent, and would like to hear of experiences using these software packages.

PLEASE DO NOT POST LINKS TO SITES WITH FREE MUSIC OR APPLICATIONS ..... instead just e-mail them to me (ssme@iinet.net.au).

Stay away for that crap SSMe
There is no safe P2P program
If you are looking for content or a place to share try the newsgroups
Newsrover is a good program for this
It is auto scanned by the AV programs and is ez to use

The Shareaza has program has no spyware itself, some downloads are though.

Just have a good spyware scanner and anti virus program, and be careful of what you download.

Yeah, that doesn't mean anything. Marketing with it or not, there are still tons of false files containing content more lethal then anything a company will actually distribute with their product in the P2P network its self, regardless of how respectable the program is.

@ Crappy/Roo,

Thanks for the tips!!! I am definitely going to give them a try.

As for Bit Torrent... Well I think its slower than anything I have ever seen. I'm sure there are benefits, however I am yet to find one.

The benefits are that you dont have to buy servers to host these big files. You make a torrent of the big file on your computer, so its just a link to the actual file.

You go from 2GB of downloading to 12.0 Kb then download the actual file using BitTorrent. This way you dont leave Firefox/Safari/Internet Explorer open.
