Hello everybody, I am attempting to get into skinning, its the only thing I don't do what with battling, scrumming, and modding. If someone could teach me basic instructions on Gimp with skinning, I would be overjoyed. If you have time, you could type out a manual of commands and filters and such, I would C&P it into a word proccessor, thanx a ton to anyone who can help! I'll figure out the rest from there, and I might end up making custom skins. (There's a way I can repay you!)

Photochop CS! LOL FOOLS!

Dude, if your relly gonne get into this, you gotta be willing to pay money. Photoshop is used by there pros, the very best, What I have Photoshop 7.0 is probably like $2,000. I have that, and another thing, Jasc Paint Shop Pro Trial, the trial is not thirty days, you keep it forever for free!. All I recommend is that.

Good skins aren't about the tools. They are about the art.

There are many skinning tutorials on the web. Kind of hard to sort through at times to find useful ones.

Metal and cloth: http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/cottages/qbranch/tutorials.shtml

A thread with many many game mod related tutorials: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000644.html?00060 If someone were to sort through them and find the skinning links and post here, that would be coolio.

And since you asked about GIMP:

$2,000

OMG that made me laugh so hard! You can get CS for around $600 if you have a previous version, and the full one is like $1000 I think.
