Wikipedia finally got an entry for ThinkTanks.
EDIT: Okay, so I had nothing better to do. I figured if Pingus gets an article there, TT needs one.
Anything I should add?

Just few things:

- You shouldn't name any nicknames nor armies names, because no one cares about them .
- The text is damn hard to read . Give it some structure.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

I was about to say the same thing, triv. Armies are disproportionately covered in the post so far. If I had to, I couldn't name two of them. Their significance is minimal.

Agreed. If the army section was dropped or trimmed down to less than half of what it is, it would be better. As far as structure, I didn't notice a lack of structure, but it does ramble, especially in the army section.

Goshdarnit PGG, you freaking added army names to my beautiful Army paragraph! There was a reason I left the part about "The greatest army of all- EX" out... XD

Agreed Tallah.

BTW why are people using the word n00b so much?

Wal

Naming people "to avoid"? C'mon folks, grow up.

All that does is open the door to endless revisions based off personal preferences.

Deleted.

Yeah, I want to know who kept messing with that...

I know where that person's ISP is, and what it is. :)

There is a discussion section within the wiki article. We should move some of the chatter there that is more specific to the article.

Actually I find it interesting to read on PTT all those comments on the WIKI TT process. Keep posting! :)
PSL should be mentioned - hell it's the tenth season!
TBL too... Season 6. I think those are the tourney worth mentioning for their scope.
Olympics perhaps...

About Armies: some have been around a long time. I know UT, UF and SA are the ones I know best (from reading it beside your names in this thread lol). They should have beena round a long time and have a good following (re. 10 peeps) to be named IMOHO. For me and for most people they're a blur, but I know it's very important to other players.

Dang. Now Hugo's gonna think I'm out to get him and gonna tell him to do something with a rubba hose ;)

Honestly, Wikipedia is an encylcopedia. It's supposed to be fairly brief but give the important information. Posting about all the events of the past and armies goes beyond the scope, IMO.

I find the info posted good, but expanding it too far will just make it unfocused. I wouldn't recommend it. Often less is more when it comes to writing.

I could see people posting other wiki articles about TT armies and leagues, however.

Good points braaaains.

I think history is critical. What, the NFL is just a football league? I'm a bit biased on this because I think if Psychoscrum disappeared and took all its players - the old guard [ most of the moderators and admins ] - with it, this game would soon thereafter disappear. However, articles solely devoted to ARMY XYZ are way unnecessary. Do they have any impact on the game ? Are they vital to the community ? I dunno.

No offense taken LGM :) Just adding my (biased) 2¢!

Looking archives... On 01/29/04 I was updating the PSL3 thread . (Tell me 2+ years aren't worth a note?) ;) PSL started during the summer TT was introduced, in 2003 (started by Loler who is long gone). It's built in the game! I think it's the biggest TT event (we're about 40 in PSLX), and still going strong. And much came out of it, directly or not: codes and scripts, even PTT to a degree (with its architecture built around 'leagues', 'armies', etc.). It was the first ever league, and saw scores of TT folks go through the seasons.

Yes - the art is to find a balance.

No Hugo PS wasn't started by Loler. He started the first scrum league that started in May 03 for 2 short seasons.

I'll go along with the League info (PSL or others). Leagues have had a major impact on modding, scripting, and community. Even a year and a half old player like me can see that history and importance, but the armies don't merit more than a mention for me.

Wish I had time to put into evening leagues... :S

@ Az: Yes I know - but in my books it's a technicality. :)
Loler started the first (Scrum) League. Since it was so new it semi-fizzled and never got far. We didn't have a good core of decent folks like we do now. I think we played one half-baked season, anyway it never felt 'right' (several no-shows, etc.) After this first season was over, Loler was semi-retiring while saying he wanted to continue the league, etc. He then passed it to a useless friend who barely played TT...
This is when TankDork started PsychoScrum (I remember the cautious, emotional post about transferring the league to TD lol@). TD hosted his own chart, etc. We did 2 seasons (Amnesia-Dementia anyone?) under TD management then he passed the torch.
I managed PSL 3 & 4 in early 2004, and if my memory serves me well Tally managed PSL 5-6. Then Rx stepped in PSL 7-8-9 and X. We also had PSL 9.5 managed by Napalm.

Sorry for any mistakes in the above.

FWIW some more history:

The first Official SL season lasted only a few weeks. The one Hugo mentions was actually the second season. It was called "official" because Loler had some sort of blessing from Bravetree. It had it's own website that was hosted by a UK player.

The torch was never passed really as PsychoScrum was always a separate & private league from what was "the official league". That's regardless of what Loler thought or wrote. PS was initially called "the arena league" by TD with the final being the 'super scrum bowl'. The idea for the league was hatched via emails in late August 03.

We actually played 3 seasons with 2 teams. We played two nights a week back then.

The fourth season was incorrectly called PS3.

And oh yeah...who was it that had that 3 month losing streak ?? :)

<-----whistles, looks for filbert....

Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 5:02:46 PM

Nice AZA. :)

We have to mention Filbert on WIki before he does it himself

@ Tally: no amount of whistling will ever erase the ugly memories of the Amnesia Team.
even though you lost for 3 months you're still my friend, you know

Heh, sounds like a PsycoScrum needs it's own sub head...
