I have not played afternoon Chaos Scrum in a while and had no idea how offensive the speech of some people has become. It is not within the purview of the general servers to monitor this kind of garbage. It is within our abilities as players to do so.

I realize that most of the bigoted and offensive language is from pre-adolescents who have not yet learned social decorum. I also realize that it is the responsibility of their parents to guide them in learning to be respectful of others. Ignoring such behavior is not sufficient. It is incumbent upon us as members of the community to actively police our game environment both as individuals and as a community.

In the early days of the game, before there were private servers, and ignore or admin scripts, we players took it upon ourselves to make ThinkTanks unavailable for people of this sort. We did this by cooperatitivly BMing to keep them off the field of play until sheer frustration drove them away. We generally were successful in nearly every case the previously offensive player became an accepted member of the community. It interfered with the game a bit but was an effective tool.

...grampa sluggy

Well said, gramps...

That was one over the top kid... Between his diving, BMing, use of racial epithets, and generally abusive manner, the game suffered. I welcome the opportunity to BM the snot out of anyone who wants to play that way.

After you left, several other trolls came in, too. It got just plain stupid in there.

I left SW to go to a server with a banlist, and had a really good game afterward.

Mind it and u give them power...

Like sluggy said... I usually tire out these knuckle heads
by BMING them into boredom.

I also put them on a mental ignore switch that most ppls
seem to lack.

Aye slowmo, what goes on in servers today are unacceptable, and show how well these children have been disciplined in life by their parents. Indeed Bming them ceaselessly is a very effective plan that makes these players act differently, but nowadays that type of tool does not exactly work. A certain player we all know to cause a nuisance in shockwave servers actually wants us to BM him to death. He actually makes it so we are forced to BM him, due to his odd fetish of taking the scrum ball and driving around the rim of the map until someone finally kills him. It seems we may need to find new ways to force these whippersnappers to change their ways....the belt I presume? :)

That's another whippersnapper belted by the feared AncientOne!

Oh, him. The tactic I've found that works best against the flag-stealer is to smoke him before he gets the flag. Keep him smoked, and then if he gets close to the action kill him before he can interfere. It pretty much eliminates him from interfering unless he spawns right in the action (has happened).

You mean Tanty? I think he's funny. In an annoying sort of way, but don't let it bug you. He sometimes shuts up if you ignore him.

Ignore script and make them a T.O.O. (Target of opurtunity). Don't go out of your way, but anytime you're near them dump a couple of rounds into them. If everyone in the game does this it pretty much keeps them out of the game. Most of these fools never spend any time in TBM so they can't hit thing if they seek revenge.

Sad state of affairs. I also invite all players to move to a server where we can administer it. He is then left with the bots.

Offensive language and/or offensive names are not the exclusive pervue of children
Many "adults" who wouldnt want their own children using these profanities,
think that its ok for them to be smucks
I was in a game yesterday when one of the players took offense to the name of another
The guy had a point but the offensive named player cited freedom of speech
All the while saying that he wouldnt want his own kids using using these words - he cursed out the guy requesting change
Bloody hypocrite
I have locked the master server for my grandkids (at the router)
They can only play against each other on the lan
Its sad because half of what makes this game fun are the people
The good people I might add
