Hey! I was diggin thruogh some files and I finally found the first virus that I ever made! XD
if you guys wanna download it and try it out, you can do so
here <link removed by dash>
don't worry, it wont infect your computer unless you deliberately extract it and boot it up, lol. Sorry, no linux or mac versions. :(
P.S. This is NOT a fake virus. It WILL work. (or it has in the past)

Lmao. I'll run it via Wine and see if it works on Linux. (Wine is a Windows emulator not known for its virus support.) I got it...

Never knew you had the plans to make a virus! HACKER! Just kidding :)

Anyway, nicely made, 197.73 KB is a descent virus. Any expert computer guy would definetely scan that, but an average user would most likely execute it! FIRE IN THE HOLE!

@DJ,

WINE has been tested with viruses and only one had any effect- it started trying to do stuff and kept crsahing, and trying again, thus bogging down the CPU.

@Fuji,

What does the virus do? I have an old Win 98 machine I have been wanting to mess up before I put Linux on it..

I tried to run it.... Winblows said "Whoops dude! This file has some serious corruption! Gotta close it down man!"

Awwww...

I think you're lying about creating this virus bud.
If you had I think it wouldn't have its own space on a site like symantec, except if you tried to propagate it yourself and succeeded, but for that we could send you to jail.

@Warfare
If you DID run it, you're screwed :P

Please don't post links to viruses on PTT. I can just see it now, Someones parents getting all over DanMac and --z-
because their kids "got a virus here" and hosed their computer.

All he wanted to do is infect your computer with a virus, that's all :P

No problem fuji. I don't think we had a policy in place on it. @DJ I deleted your post.
Another reason for keeping a lid on this sort of thinng is that we don't want to create links/affiliations to questionable sites. I once received a call from the FBI because someone had been forging the referer field on a site they shutdown and confiscated. They were forging it to indicate they had come in from a site I hosted. We don't want that happening here. Although the FBI should have known that the referer field is set on the client and so forensically useless.

I have investigated the matter Art. Although I doubt it is pretending to be corrupted, It did not install anything on my machine. Not even a single registry key.
My user does not have the ability to edit the registry, and I have not found any known entries that this virus may make.
No programs have been disabled. And since I dont have the privledge to edit the folders WINDOWS or Program Files, no new files were found there either.
Virus foiled!

It appears I do not have this virus. I looked for it using the instructions in the link that Art posted and other resources elsewhere.

Looks like it didnt work for me...

"outlook" = "%ProgramFiles%/outlook/outlook.exe /auto"

^ this key is what executes the program after you start your PC up again...
You know whats funny? I dont even have outlook! This folder does not exist on my PC in the first place... Nor was anything created here.
You know it too art, when I joined ScriptLine I e-mailed you saying I dont have outlook and I needed it for your SL form. :P

This is funny. I amuse myself.
The best antivirus: Using the administrator account only when you need to. Always use a regular account, and if you get a virus, you dont have enough privledges for it to work! :P

On the other hand, if there is a remote chance if it being on my PC, tell me what it is, because I have no trace of it at all. 2 virus scanners and manual searching shows nothing. Even HijackThis! Turns up nothing...

Better solution to virus control:

Be so poor that the only software that you have is old castoffs from other people. That right I just upgraded to Win98 Second edition. No more 95 for me.

I haven't had a virus checker on my machine for years now. (I occasionaly go to trendmicro just to make sure).

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go move my wifes new leather couches and let her know what I think of her new outfits.

If you can make an impression on Nail.exe with 30,000 + hits on google, your a virus genius.

And FYI, Nail.exe is the strongest virus known to man! :S

Could someone send me a copy of Nail.exe? I want to test how well it runs on Wine.

Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 4:19:43 AM

^^ Not really... Its just the virus that is strong and really easy to spread, that way getting the most clicks on google :P
You'll find out there are hundreds viruses twice or more stronger than nail.exe... The only difference is they're much harder to spread, but much harder to kill.

Do any of you no any viruses for macs cause my friend dinoboy keeps bugging me by saying macs can't get viruses and crap like that so I would love to send him a big virus lol :)

Cessna's rule!

Heh.....NO. But I betcha a nickel theyll be coming out pretty soon with the new Intels. Macs are getting increasingly more popular, ergo so will their viruses. Another reason why windows computers have more viruses is beacause of the NTFS filing system, which macs dont have. They can read it, but cant write it. B)

And Linux hardly has any viruses at all because nobody understands the binary format! XD And plus, it's based on the Unix kernel, as is Mac OS X. Unix was the most secure OS back in the day, and people still use it for servers.
