I start winning in god damn team battlemode and everyone accuses me of cheating.

Is it my fault that I got a T1 connection and you don't?!

Is it my god damn fault that Leopard's lags more for some and less for others?!

So if like another player starts winning and taking out players cause their smoking, you're gonna accuse of them of cheating too?!

I can't believe Choc and fntm. I respected you two till you accused me of using a script. I don't even know where to get these god damn scripts, so much as use them!

Very shameful...accusing someone of cheating just cause their winning...Absolutly pathetic.

Don't let it get to you. There have been a lot of accusations in the past 6 months, some by real respectable players. Brave Tree has indicated that you can not cheat in a remotely hosted server. Meaning, if you’re in the Lair, which is hosted by Leopard you can't cheat, only Leopard could as he is hosting the game. All you could do on the client side is change your skin, projectile, or aiming site to make things a bit clearer for yourself.

Your definitely a talented player, skillful players will always provoke doubts some peoples minds, specifically when their losing to that very person. I bet if they were on the same team and competing for the same kills with you, nothing would have been said.

Thanks guys. You two are definetly honorful. I have nothing but great respects for you two. I won't let this bother me and move on. Atheletes and celebrities have it worse. A celeb. Starts to move up and they start rumors to bring them down, like the TT accusasions. I tend to think TT as the celebrity world Lol.

I think every good player has been accused of cheating. I have even been accused of being someone else. As Legendary said..take it all as a complement & just keep blowing the hell outta them. They will either leave or shut-up. Also, the ignore script works very well :P

Actually the TT comunity is just like the celebrity world if you want to use that analolgy. Some people just have issues with those who perform well and gain noteriety. I'm not sure wahts behind this. I've spoken to FTMN and it doesn't seem like him. On our TBM team one of the guys was accused of cheating. The comment was made "he just can't be killed" As we found out last night in the playoffs, he can be and was killed many times. Typically a high scorer was held to a minnimum of points.

Your just going to have to deal with or ignore that type of communication.

Mav - You're not the only one. Accusations from punks I can blow off as trying to salvage their pitiful ego after being beaten. But when I was accused of cheating by a reputable player I just about lost it myself. XD

Don't know if you happened to notice the 10+ servers up Wednesday night all proclaiming MASTER TMO IS A CHEATER or not. XD As Dash said, it looks like I have a fan club. But I've got his IP Address and am trying to track him down. I have a few suspicions though... ;) Once I find out I'll post the id just so everyone knows who my slanderer is. (or does that qualify as libel? Hmmm.... %) ) But unless I find out otherwise, I'm attributing it to a punk. A reputable player would tell me to my face. Punks like to sneak around and snipe in ways you can't respond to, because they know there's no validation to their accusation.

Fortunately it does appear that the consensus of the people who would know is that There Is No Cheat Method. Everything is controlled on the server except what you see on your screen. While you can tweak your visuals to provide you with a better experience, that's pretty much all you can do.

I did see the servers and actually said WTF? Out loud. I would have been upset as well.

And all of this leads to why we did not include vote kicking.. It seems that when that is in, good players start getting kick voted for 'cheating'.

As far as cheating goes.. Only the server host (or those with access to any codes the servr host has added) can cheat. If the server is being run clean, without any codes, then there is no cheating.. I.e. All tank settings are the same. That being said, we cannot guarentee that any remotely hosted server is 'clean', with the exception of the shockwave servers. If the server host is hosting games and does not have support for any cheater codes (added by modding) then the word should be circulated that the server is clean and cheat free. BraveTree cannot guarantee that it is free, so we would have to depend on honesty.

@napalm - I happened to get his IP address from Dash, but I also captured it in my ZoneAlarm - one of the servers triggered a Firewall block (don't know why) and it wound up in my Logs. And for now I would prefer not to publish IPs for all to see. That IP had only logged into Dash's servers once, with a nonsense name (or at least one I didn't recognize).

EEK! I just got an email from Prof saying that some folk were looking at him as the source of those servers.

I think I am indirectly responsible for that belief, since I haven't named who I suspect without any proof. Let me state here and now that the Professor is NOT my prime suspect. He told me face-to-face when he thought I was cheating; he did not at any time act like a "Punk" over it. The only reason he thought I was cheating was because he had had that suspicion given to him from a "reputable source". IMO the accusation no longer holds water among the main body of the TT community.

My belief is that the person who posted the servers doesn't actually care if I'm a cheater or not, but is using the accusation as a way to attack me personally. Two completely different motives, two completely different people, IMO. I have only made a few enemies during my tenure here, and it's among them that I'm concentrating right now.

I myself did not believe you were referring to the professor. The people who have been following the threads know this initial accusation was dropped. Maybe these people were unaware that ths had already been resolved.

This new person putting up the cheat named servers is just jumping on the bandwagon.

Anywho, TMO your reputation remains unafflicted among those of us who matter. The trolls arent worth the time and the noobs aren't gonna know any better. There was a period when I was accused of cheating (of course those accusations only ever came from players that didnt know me) and it made me laugh. Since I have been stinking the joint up lately...no one accuses me of cheating. Sigh... :(

Mav, When you were shooting it took 1 round 3 were dead. You were transparent to bullets and 4 of us were shooting you and you didnt die. You werent even smokin! So explain it. Are you using a script? Some people do. Something was weird! Plus you scored 30 points against 6 to 4 odds our favor. Lots of people play on T1 like dash but he doesnt go transparent. But if its a T1 only "Grads" to you. Four of us on the team thought something was fishy. Why get so defensive if you didnt do it. If it smells like fish most of the time it is. Not always! I do wonder why you are having such a cow about it? Guilt? What? If not cheating take a chill pill. Take it as a compliment To your T1server!

Me not lay names on the table, but me feel that scripts ARE used by some "top notch" players when they get crabby. In a light (we were playing 1 on 1) I hit someone full force, no obstacles nearby nuthin, and the scrum stayed with the other player LIKE GLUE. This happened throughout the game. Then, when we were on this thinktanks or shockwave server I beleive he threw in a script that forced my TT app & system to freeze. Again, me not lay names. But he IS a well known "top notch" player.

Me need to add there was no lag involved at all.

Legendary... LOL! Bold type is great, isn't it? I think there are no errors in the scripts people use. I think they work fine IMHO. We can't be ignorant to the possiblility since everything we're using is code.

Point is,TMO didn't cheat,people were awed by his incredible skill so much that they thought he was cheating.

TMO--cheat?? Technically it is impossible for a client to change something for all of the players on a server. For example the ignore script affects the client ONLY. Unless there is a cheat written into TT by the developers that is in every single version of ThinkTanks, this kind of cheating is theoretically impossible. Unless the host was hacked and a script executed on it, I don't see how it could happen.

Btw, TMO isn't that hard to beat in scrum at least, I rarely play BM so I wouldn't know about that...

I saw the TMO IS A CHEATER servers too... In TT 2 can someone please block servers with similar names? With exceptions for the SW servers of course....

Me had a problem with a player who hasn't showed up in this topic, not TMO nor Maverick.

Again people.. If you are playing on the shockwave servers.. There is NO WAY to run scripts.. To cheat, to alter the game.. Whatver.. The game (and the engine) is a server-client architechture.. The server controls it all. If you do not have access to the server, you cannot cheat.

Now, if you start a server, and you have hacked scripts, you can do interesting things.. Like having a special tank or ammo that has no reload time, etc.. Now, if you are playing on someones server, and they and their friends are kicking your butt because they either have some special codes they set up OR they just have a fast connection, STOP WHINING! You are playing it THEIR sandbox.. So you play with their rules. If they want to play fair.. That is cool.. If they don't.. That is cool too. They run the server, they make the rules. I am not accusing anyone of running servers with speical codes. If you do.. More power to you.. Have fun with it. I f your server is clean, and you want people to know it is, spread the word that you run it clean. Again, I personally do not care if people are 'cheating' or not. My personal take on all games is, if the game allows it to be done, it is fair.

And yeah, I am one of those people that has in the past made all the skins on my client bright glowing pink (for easier visibility) and in games that allow other clients to see my skin, changed mine to use the in game 'rock' texture.

I also want to add that accusing people of cheating is NOT he first thing someone should do. In games such as these (online MP) it is often that you see someone who is insanely and impossibly good. I used to think so myself.. Getting fragged by guys I swore were cheating. Working at dynamix, I got a chance to sit behind and watch some of these 'impossibly good' players play the stock game at a level that to me was just insane.. Watching 'Got Milk' and 'Orphan Kazzrak' play tribes and tirbes 2 'live' convinced me that it is possible to be so far beyond the regular rank and file in terms of skill as to be considered impossibly good.

@Chocoholic: I play on a cable modem that is so junky I can't host at all because people get dropped every 30 seconds or so. I host my server at remote data center.
It would be nice to play on a T1 and have a computer that is not 5 yrs old, maybe someday.

Now you listen to me Chocoholic. I scored 20 points. 20. Two zero. And I got it cause of I was playing at my toppest that night. I'm defensive about this cause I don't want to be accused for something I did not do. It's not only me that's being falsely accused for someone's "fishy" matters. Couple others other than me have been accused just because they were winning. I believe often times it's the other players ego that drives to accuse the other guy who's winning or even jealousy. I hope that's not that case for you Chocoholic. So you had better not continue bout this or else I could get badly hostile on you. If you start winning, how do you like it if I start accusing you hm? Bet you'd feel bad bout that now you wouldn't you? End it here and now. I have never cheated and never will. This entire accusasion matter has to stop to not only me, but many MANY other players around TT.

Well I was in leopards and yet again I was accused of cheating. Suprise suprise the server was lagging badly and tanks were going in and out of phase. So I guess when a lag is in progress than people are cheating than right Fntm? Right? Here's a news flash, go get yourself a clue and than accuse people.
