You have to enable port forwarding on your router - and only accept requests from the master server.

Extremely Dummy-Downed Instructions for Dedicated Server for WIN

Lag free server on 56K dial-up. Not Possible. The ping would probably start at about 300ms and rise from there.
Lag starts to be:
noticeable at about 100ms. A tenth of a second. Choppy and slow motion moments.
Irritating at about 200ms. Tremors and skittering
Unplayable at about 300ms. Over a quarter of a second. Hiccups and teloporting.
(ms = mili seconds: 1000ms =1 second)

Lag = Anomalies in game play created by slow moving data or the loss of data from computer to server to computer and back again over the internet.
Causes:
-Connection - less than cable or dsl 1 Mbps when "T3" 45 Mbps is best (56k dial modem is 56,000 bps vs 1,000,000 bps or 45,000,000 bps)
-Location - Europe vs USA
-Computer memory - less that 512 MB when 8 GB is best
-Video memory - less than 16 MB when 512MB is best
-PC Processor - less than 1 GHz when 3.8GHz is best
-MAC Processor - less than 1 GHz when dual 2.5GHz is best.
All these things are variables in the quality of game play. When Hosting or playing.

Extremely Dummy-Downed Instructions for Dedicated Server for WIN

Some of the information is the same for both platforms.
-dedicated
-mission
-game
-log 1

The Mac directions are too straight forward to dummy down further.

1. Open Terminal, which is located in Applications - Utilities.
2. Re-name your "Think Tanks" folder to "ThinkTanks", if it already isn't named so.(No Spaces)
3. In Terminal type cd (with a space) and drag your folder into the terminal window. It'll automatically make the path for it.
4. Press enter.
5. Type ./ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks OSX -dedicated -mission green -game TS -log 1 (see WIN directions for more info)
6. It should automatically start, but if it doesn't, press enter.

I keep a text file with these paths/strings/commands so I just copy/paste them into the terminal.

Also in the 2nd post of this thread (UF)silbarcalis allready has given you the link for the directions for creating a dedicated server for both platforms.

Dedictated server: look at the sidebar of this page, under about thinktanks, 7th link down Dedicated Servers .

My Extremely Dummy-Downed Instructions for Dedicated Server for WIN are just an interpretation of these Dedicated Servers Directions .
