so the only real compettion is Nintendo and Microsoft.....
but wat about the 1st to falll in the old console wars? SEGA, they make games yes, but since im a G4 junkie ive herd sum rumors about sega making a come back.

Right now, my bet is on Microsoft, as the 360 is already out and has a good following.

Nintendo has a good idea going with the Wii, but IMO it's just a novelty. I'm of the mouse and keyboard FPS type, and I don't like having to exert that much energy just to play a game I can play better on a keyboard and mouse... Unless it's DDR. Waving around the remote to aim a gun is going to kinda suck. Driving games are REALLY going to suck, because you hold the controller sideways in both hands. No steering feedback. I am certainly not going to buy a Wii.

Sony is a huge evil corp that likes to put way too much DRM on to everything. They also like to over hype and over price everything. For $500 you get a machine that plays games that are on the evil blue-ray disks that you really need a HDTV and/or plasma TV to really bring out the nice-ness of. I'm not willing to spend $1000 on top of the $500 I paid for a system just to make it look nice. If you are willing to pay $100 more you can get a bigger hard drive, card reader AND get it in a shiny silver finish! NOT worth the money. I never liked sony and never will. Sony NEEDS to die.

M$ already has the 360 out. Lots of people bought it. It's a quality system that looks good, has solid online play and is not overly expensive. But the games are pricey and once again you really need a HDTV and/or plasma TV to really enjoy it... But it still looks good on a normal TV. It has my bet to win the console wars because it has the time advantage, which is crucial.

I have many consoles, but the Dreamcast is by far my favorite. Even over the NES and the 2600. Comparing it to the PS1, N64, and Gamecube, it whoops them all graphically, but it lacks good games. The good games DO rock though, The Sonic Adventures, Shenmue series and Daytona USA 2001 are all good examples of it. It's too bad Sega made some really crap marketing choices or I think it would have done very well.

I'm going to put my money to PC upgrades. Until I can play Counter-Strike: Source effectively on a console against my other PC buddies, I don't plan on buying a next-gen system. Graphics on the PC almost always surpass the consoles, providing you have good hardware. Games are slightly cheaper than on the consoles because they're on CDs and not some crap proprietary format like Blue-Ray. I also find PCs more fun to play with than a console, because they aren't just for games.

Wii is the only one planned to generate money at the first launch. Sony's plan is plain stupidy because there is no guarentee that they ever get to the green zone. Microsoft as Sony makes the new console same way as the earlier. It offers nothing "new" beside improved graphics. Their consoles will appease the hardcore gamers, but majority of people are not interest in these graphical things without talking the price. Nintendo is offering higher social aspect with their Wii console which I believe will become a hit and Nintendo raise to their 90's status again.

Even though I like the PS2, I might not even buy any of the "next gen consoles". I don't like the idea of the controller for the Wii, main reasons of what Racer said. And the PS3 might have good graphics, but damnit, they're way too freakin' stupid with the price and the date...

I'm not getting the xbox anytime soon as it costs alot for the games (as does for the PS2). I might wait a couple of years, and until then, PC and PS2 baby B)
