Hi All,

I have noticed lately that the forums is fast becoming a witchhunt to find out the "so-called" people who are ruining our games when we get that precious time alone to finally play the game in peace. Yet it is funny to see that also lately, players that ruin the games such as team killers and so-forth are not amateur players only. Is it possible that maybe some long standing players are seeking fun of a different kind by frustrating gamers with their silly antics. Now this is not a direct attack at anyone, however the other day, it was frustrating to see what I would call a "good player" completely harrassing some amateurs. These are people whom we want to stay around, and bring new blood into the game, to expand, and make this game more entertaining.

We were all amateurs at one time or another... How quickly we all forget... Just because you can shoot an amateur does that make you a great player... I don't think so... So you can boast how points you can score... Please stop kidding yourself, and take a closer look in the mirror.

Getting back to my point... I am hoping that next time you are in the battlefield, that if someone does shout out team killer, then maybe we should all unite and try and kill the virus before it becomes a disease that noone can control. Lately its becoming more common to see a team killer around.

I understand that some of you may get annoyed but what I am saying however if your concious is clear then you have nothing to fear. No guilt!!!

BTW if you want to know what the crucible is all about then read on The Crucible

Good points. Totally agree. I tried to address this issue in another thread.

By the way, little side note of useless trivia about the Crucible. Arthur Miller wrote his play called "The Crucible" in the 1950's as his protest against the insane actions by Joe McArthy and his pals during the whole Red Scare period where they were blacklisting and destroying careers and lives because of fear of communism.

@ Paisano,

Whilst Miller wrote The Crucuble in protest to Macarthism as it was called, remember that the underlying theme is still there. Since I mentioned something that not everyone might understand I thought I would elaborate by including a link to clarify myself and my point of view.

Remember, as per link, Paisano , your thread is no better than a witch hunt too. It is heresay, a point that its difficult to prove. Whilst I did recently also write a thread in which I accused a certain play of bad antics, due to my reasons, at the end of the day, are these threads written to release frustration, or to for other reasons.

As seen before with the TTPD, there is nothing that can salvage this game from a small minority spoiling our fun and games, however slowly, with the community getting together we can frown upon such as behaviour such as bad antics whether they be team killing or foul language, rather than sitting on the sideline encouraging such behavior.

Maybe we are all living in glass houses including myself, and maybe we should all stop throwing stones.

@Lauryn,

Maybe I'm missing your point. I thought I understood it, but now I'm lost.

My thread about good and bad sportsmanship is a witch hunt? Glass houses?

All I know is that it seemed like a fun topic to share with the gang.

There are good sports and bad sports. It's not heresay....but fact.

You've done the same thing before in other threads like this one

http://supra.planetthinktanks2.com/archives/comm-thread.asp?thread=1405&forum=4

Can you sum up your point again for me in as brief a statement as possible?

I'd really like to know what you're trying to say here.

Thanks

Paisano,

All I will say is this, and I quote from above

Whilst I did recently also write a thread in which I accused a certain play of bad antics, due to my reasons, at the end of the day, are these threads written to release frustration, or to for other reasons.

Maybe, and please don't take this personally have another read through as to what I am saying.

Thanks,

LaurynTM

PS:- I never said that I hadn't done it previously, maybe we should stop threads like mine and yours where we look at the negative points, rather than look at the more positive things in TT and life. At the end of the day, look at life from the other persons shoe. I have seen people team kill, because they accidently shot a team mate when chasing the same opposing player. All of the sudden an outcry begins, and what started as an accident, becomes a fox hunt, on what was initially an accidental fire.

Ah...I see. I am all for looking at the glass as half full as opposed to half empty. I believe in the theory that we'll see it when we believe it.

What we focus on grows and expands too. I know that negavity begets negativity...what goes around comes around (inset cliche here).

They are cliches because they are true.

Yes, I think part of posting things on here is for release of frustrations, but that's not such a bad thing in my book, as long as it's not malicious and juvenile. I don't think I've ever insulted anyone that didn't deserve it (the Demo Attack clowns, for example). Most of my other threads were efforts to learn about the community, the players, tactics, theories, etc. Etc.

So, I agree that we all should strive to keep our threads/posts positive, I think it would be rather dull and less than honest if we didn't have the ocassional less than positive (ok, negative) thread/post every now and then. We can't have light without dark... Day without night. Ying and yang.

I just stumbled across an old thread http://supra.planetthinktanks2.com/archives/comm-thread.asp?thread=286&forum=4

That might be a good example of what you were saying Lauryn. See the post by TG. I think she said it best as to why it's not such a good idea to post these kinds of threads.

This forum is about all aspects of the game...good and bad

@ Bolo,

Point taken, however witch hunts always come at a price, and at the end of the day what is the point. TTPD was an alliance of people wanting to get rid of campers, and idiots whilst people played scrum. The thread I am speaking about became a witch hunt to find out who were the people who were ruining the game. We all know who they are. At the end of the day what did the TTPD really achieve. The problem is an on going saga, and there isn't anything anyone can do about it.

Maybe my comments about posting positive things about the game rather than the bad things is a bit optimistic, however why do we need threads in which we try and find out who the bad players are really. They only represent a small minority of the game players. Why do we give them air time, or 15 minutes of fame. Maybe we should be hearing more about things such as individuals who are succesful in TT, or maybe about the people behind the bots that we all play.

I am sure that in real life noone in this forum is a saint.

If I may add...

I read and read the threads for etiquette on the scrum games. Then when I decided I wouldn't hurt my own team, I came in as more as an observer to learn and watch, no where near the scrum or the goal, I was being sought out and destroyed on a regular basis. Finally, I retaliated. At that point a member of the opposing team announced "kill them all, as much as you like". Which pretty much happend next a full on blast fest. Not good scrum.

For the past year I was in the top 10 out of 1600 members on the ORBZ game. As in TT, a comunity began to emerge. About that time newbies or plain bullies would come into perfectly good matches and pull all sorts of stunts, mostly shooting other people's orbz off the launch platforms or aiming for orbz players instead of starz, ruining their games.

I left ORBZ due to this and a bit of boredom and came to TT. The other night I visited Sat. Night Prime time on the ORBZ server. Guess what?

There were only 4 people playing....out of 1600 registered users.

THIS IS A WARNING The abuse on and off TT MUST STOP !

The only thing that's getting destroyed is the game itself.

It's like this save the world crap.

I got news for you all - the world will be here for a long long time - it's the PEOPLE that are going to die off if we don't stop the abuse to the planet.

Ditto for TT's

You've been warned.
