If the loading stops at the second phase, download objects. It means that it's downloading something you don't have eg new terrain, new tree object, new sky... You get the picture, it can be anything. The loading last normally about 4-5 minute, but it can last longer like 15 minutes, but that long loads are rather rare(luckily). Sometimes it can stop at the first phase, loading datablocks, too, but it's usually only a short stop.
When joining servers keep eye on what's the name of the map if it's not Medulla Mesa, Hypothalamus Hills, Cranium Crater or Freudian Flats there is most likely something new that you have to download.
Also keep eye on where you're joining... Shockwave servers uses the original stuff... Also MI: banlist scrum(not sure about the rest of the name) seems have been running normal maps.
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

There is a way to see what you are downloading but you have to buy the game.... ;)

Yo it doesnt stop its just a longer wait time I guess its a way to try harder to get demos to buy the game

Plz help me I try to get into something that lets demos go in but when I go in it always stops at loading datablocks plz tell me how to carry on with the loading and why it does that.. :S :S
