* Sex. In a 2001 survey, condom maker Durex found that Japan ranked dead last among 28 countries in the frequency of sex: The average Japanese had sex just 36 times a year. Hong Kong was next to last with 63. (Americans ranked No. 1 at 124 times a year.)

One wonders how they conducted this survey. Did people out there actually make notations in their day-timer when they had sex? Made tick marks on the wall? How did people keep track of this, and, more importantly, WHY? Losers. ;)

Japanese rank dead last? No wonder no one smiles over here...hope it ain't contagious

The stewards of this survey actually contacted me so I can tell you how I came up with my number. I counted all of the dents on our bedroom head board. Since most of our encounters are roughly 40 seconds in length with an average dent rate of 1 per second the math was fairly easy, The following equation proves that this survey is indeed accurate.

124 encounters = 4960 dents / 40 dents per session

Can't call this a bogus survey when you have the numbers to back it up.

Rogue,

Your 'significant other' must be very satisfied with the duration of your encounters :[. In Canada we go for quality over quantity. Since most of us live in igloos, it takes a good 2 hours just to warm up enough to 'get it on'. Even then it is a bit distracting with all the sled dogs lying around for heat.

We all do, didn't you know that? As everyone knows as soon as we cross the border, we park our cars and hitch up our sled dogs.

Is it just me or does OM seem like the eternal pessimist? I guess they just asked people, "How often do you get it on?" or maybe they had a sample who did take notes of a month and multiplied the result by 12.

The important point is, America is a great place to score and Japan ain't.

Me, a pessimist? :) No, I'm really not. I just wonder why anyone cares. Maybe the survey was conducted by people NOT getting any, since they obviously didn't have better things to do. Kinda like those expensive grants given to scientists to find out how bullfrogs mate or something. Seems a bit silly, no? Oh is that pessimistic? Sorry. ;)

Interesting survey. Curious as to how they got their data. As I see it, this is proof that Japanese are nearly 4 times as honest as Americans! ( Come on, laugh dammit! You KNOW that the gym-talk is inflated!)

Beings in that my wife is Japanese (Born in Yokohama, raised in Tokyo, and has only been in America for 8 years now (she's 42), I think I can speak on the subject with first hand experience.

Japanese women have NOT lost their sex drive, it's just that the Japanese men are too conservative, traditional, and egotistical to treat them the way they need to be treated. It's a great place for an American (or anyone who is liberated for that matter) to go and pick up chicks! Seriously! Even the dorkiest of dorks could go to Japan and get laid! The women there are so awed by our enlightened modern ways! They're not used to being treated with respect and equality.

I am living proof of that! It was like a smorgasbord of women! I picked the cream of the crop! XD I gotta say... After going from one miserable relationship to the next, I now understand what they mean by "American woman, stay away from meehee! American woman, mama let me beeehee!" LOL Just kidding

Their society is undergoing "westernization". They still have a long ways to go. It's a male dominated society. Heck, sexual harassment in the work place is still accepted in Japan. There's good and bad in any society and I think the way Japanese men treat their women is part of the bad. (bad for them, good for us ;))But there's also a lot of good. For example, the Japanese are the most educated people in the modern world. Their high standard of education surpasses all others. And their culture is enriched with beauty and wonder! You gotta see it to believe it!

I could go on and on, but I'm running out of time. Besides, I doubt that anyone would care to here me ramble on about how great the Japanese people are... So I'm going to leave it at that.

It means I've seen your picture too. ;)

But take heart from Stealth's post.

Will that be coach or first class?

Monday, June 07, 2004 at 7:23:16 PM

Stealth...i vouch for that...not first hand or anything. But I'm in Japan, and I see tons of US service men with japanese women. They all seem very happy together. I assume they are bumping uglies.

The problem may very well be with this conservative, male dominated society.

Do japanese ladies have apples? Or apricots? Or maybe plums.

Tuesday, June 08, 2004 at 9:47:52 AM

Or maybe the data are skewed because japanese men don't buy durex condoms. Maybe they aren't a generous enough fit for the men of the rising sun...snicker snicker.
