Yes - I have done it...all you need is a video out port on your video card and a DV camera.

Pretty slick.

Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 3:16:03 AM

No I mean with voices and suff ;)

Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 3:30:30 AM

Hmm...

I own an nVidia GeForce FX 5600 XT with a S-Video out port, and I own a Sony Digital 8 camcorder. Will that work? I also have a FireWire card on my machine.

TY.

@ Racer

That's exactly what I am using.

Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 7:51:49 AM

Yes it should. Racer don't you use Linux though?

All of those would make a movie very easy on a Mac.

Use the -jsave in your launching of your application. Play or observe. Before you perform the -jplay you would hook up your camcorder inputs to the Sout of the video card and add it as an additional monitor. Then start recording. Launch the -jplay and your vidoe camera would capture the recorded games/s. Then you would import the digital video into a movie application. On mac it would be imove or final cut pro. The rip it to a dvd. Reagent had already done all of this. See his threads about last seasons Scrum championships.
It should all work providing you have the applications wheather on Win Mac or Linux.

Aha. I got ya didn't I Nap. ;)

I do use Linux for everything OTHER than games (TT is installed on my Linux box though) but I do use WinBlows XP Pro/dual boot Win 98SE on my gaming PC and for movie editing/playing DVDs ect.

Here's the only problem:

These are the ports on my camera; S-Video Out, A/V Out, and DV. How do I hook this up?

Thanks a whole bunch.

Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 11:12:47 AM

Yo Racer!

Yeah you can hook up your S-video OUT from your graphics card to the S-video IN on your camcorder. Then you need to put the computer into mirroring mode, where your camcorder becomes essentially a 2nd monitor. You may need to go into your camcorder menus to figure out how to record from S-video input.

Umm... Read my message, the camera has S-Video OUT on it, not in. :'(

Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 11:25:37 AM

Well then I guess you are SOL. Does it have passthrough mode?

Personally, I've been kicking around the idea of writing a movie script for a Hollywood type production of a TT movie featuring the characters presented here at PTT. So, what acter/ess would you like to play who?

Friday, January 21, 2005 at 7:04:52 AM

Actors and actresses????>.... I thoguh it would be an animated series. Like with different tanks with different personalitys and stuff.

Are you calling me childish? And YAY! So its not only 30 second record?

Well, EW, they're still going to need voice characterizations and the animated characters are usually modeled after the actor protraying them. For instance, would Gillian Anderson be a good choice to play "TankGirl"? Jack Black as "stinkfingers"? Perhaps Ben Kingsley as "JamesBomb"? :)

O ok I got you! Ya I think that is a good idea but I dont know any good actors :S

Surely they don't have to be actors cause how are we going to get hold of them 8o

Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 8:34:30 AM

Maybe we could use speech bubbles instead of voices...

Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 9:22:48 AM

I agree with legendary we can't make it a masss production can we
who is up for it?

Monday, January 24, 2005 at 10:42:40 AM

Couldnt you just voice over it? I mean just like tape the thing and then play it over with the voices taped over with a microphone. I dont kno if it would work but it seemed kind of obius to me.

I hope you will keep this in the community please don't try to sell it elsewhere....

Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 4:07:07 AM

Mirophone could be an idea but how could u get all the voices together?

Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 9:16:54 AM

I'm planning a video using Fraps (full version) complete with commentary (from a mic) and soundtrack (from iTunes) and put together in Movie Maker. Sound good?

Friday, January 28, 2005 at 7:48:32 AM

@ x tornado
I guess u could do your part in the movie and then e-mail that to the next character in the movie

Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 3:13:32 PM

That sounds good but should we still use my idea for the voices
P.S. Can I be in it?
