I WAITED FOR TWO MONTHS IN LINE FOR MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!

...seriously, Sony has really gotten into the habit of ridiculously over-hyping its products. It was the same with PS2 - Sony hyped it up to the top so everyone would buy it, then everyone was disappointed because of lame launch games.

The DS' future doesn't look too bright, in my view...people are blinded temporarily from the PSP's launch - and by the time the PSP actually launches some good games, the DS will be all but gone. :S

It's too awesome... I got mine at the last minute.. There were only 2 left!!!! I only have twisted metal on it, but it still rocks. I have no need for the DS, so I'll probably give it to my little sis.

PSP is better in al most every way then a DS except that it is about $200-250. That is why im going to wait untill the price goes down around Summer time.

PS: The Wipeout series are some of my favorite games, that's why I want a PSP more.

The Sony PSP stands for Sony Playstation Portable and it's Sony's first handheld unit. The PSP has wireless functions can play movies through either a memory stick or Sony's UMD Discs and it can also be an MP3 player. What it was really designed for was gaming though and it is very powerful in that perspective seeing that it has almost the same graphics as the PS2.

Face it eagle, nintendo is dying. The gamecube was a lame competitor to go up against the PS2 and X-box because it was dramatically underpowered, the games were mostly lame reruns, and it didn't even have online connectivity.

Now with the DS, instead of making it a bigger, more powerful Gameboy, the only thing they did was add another screen. Seriously, the thing still uses cartridges for games (come on even Sega started using CDS in the early 90s). The DS doesn't even have decent wireless connectivity (it uses bluetooth with a 30 foot range! You call that wireless chat?). Its basically a cheapo palm pilot.

And what is "The PSP IS SUX?"

I want one! And PsP satands for Playstation Pordable or Playsatation personanal or something like that. BUT IT IS AWSOME!

I heard that there is this cool website called Google and it has a really neat feature.
If you type letters in the box it will search billions of web pages and show you the results with links to other pages with more information.

So lets say you did not know what PSP was.
So you would type the letters PSP in the box and lo and behold
You get about 24 million results in 0.09 seconds
The first of which is:

So, why you would INSIST that people should have to type a response, is simply mind boggling.

I think the DS Is cool! Having almost the same capabilities of the N64 and with new features :)

Not to mentions it has light, a stylus (sp) pen, overprotective plastic cover to prevent scratching, collapsable, and durable!

PSP is flat, 2 incomveniently long, (and may have better graphics I think), but I dought it has good battery life due to the fact that it has to spin the disk the whole time :S XD

My favorite feature with the PSP is that every time a company wants to publish a game to the PSP, Sony gains money. How? Here's how...Sony is the only company in the world that knows how to make the disks that can run on the PSP, the UMD disk. A company publishing a game has to send in a substantial amount of money to Sony to get them to publish their game onto a disk.

Another thing...even if the PSP can play videos, it can't play all of them. I think it only has a 1 hour 30 minute battery life; watching movies is pointless if you can't even finish the movie.

Nintendo has made a couple handheld gaming systems so I would go with there product. The playstation manufactures just started making handheld gaming systems therefore I think that there system may not be as good as the ds.

OK TIME FOR A BREAKDOWN OF THE PSP AND DS!!!!!!!!

Round 1: Battery time

The PSP system, although very powerful... Has a big flaw... Battery power... On an average lifespan... I'd say it would last about 3 hrs nonstop.... 3-4 if you turn off now and then...

The DS however can last twice as long... Making this an easy contest

Winner: DS

Round 2: Graphics

While the PSP has a very powerful graphics engine... The DS seems to lack.. Sure the DS can produce 3D images onto the screen... But they are slightly better the Nintendo 64

The PSP has the power to seem like a PS2, the only thing thats wrong with that is... No company has taken full advantage of this.

Winner: PSP

Round 3: Controls

The PSP is prety much a PS2 controller... Except its flat.. And no R2,L1 crap

This is where the DS comes to shine, With 2 screens (one touchable) it pretty much wins by default. If (in most DS games) you don't want to use the d-pad... Touch!

Winner: DS

Round 4: Sound

The DS and PSP have the technology to do voice overs if they want, but the PSP is slightly better due to its MP3 drive which can play music downloaded onto it.

Winner: PSP

Round 5: Menu Options

Ok, lets say you don't have a game yet, but want to turn it on anyways, youll find some customizable options on both consoles.
DS: you can set up time,date,your birthday,bar color, and calibrate the touch screen, it even has a alarm!
PSP: (we all know whos gonna win here but...) The PSP (if you downloaded content) will almost asways win... Why you ask?... It can show pictures, play mp3s, play downloaded movies AND games!

Winner: PSP

Round 6: Size/Portability/Cleanliness

Cleanliness:

The PSP has a second (but minor) flaw... ITS A PAIN TO KEEP CLEAN. Sure everything gets dirty at least once... But everytime you play stop playing... You have to clean it. And theres no screen protector, so yes... Its a pain

The DS has the flip screen thing going on, so its more likely that it wont get dirty easy... Unless you have grease on you hands or somthing...

Size:

Due to the size of the Sony PSP (which isnt much bigger then the DS) might cause problems when trying to take it around in your pocket, unless you have big pockets

For 2 screens to be meshed into 1, the DS is smaller

Portability:

Like I said above: "the DS is smaller" which means it can be stored comfortably in a pocket... You dont need to buy the OFFICIAL DS case for it either... I bought a digital camera case for mine, and it fits better then the official case

There isn't really anycase out there right now for a PSP, unless you can find a camera case or somthing

Yup I said it... "TIE" they are both great systems.. So if you have th dough, buy them both

It's a 32 megabyte memory card. That's about 5 or 6 songs, and if you even have that many songs then you have no room left for pictures and movies. You can by an extra $50 for more memory, but then that just adds to the overall (expensive) price. So no, I'd say the DS would win there if you didn't have enough clams to buy a better memory card.

But I'm used to the playstation 2 so I will get a PSP!
