Hmmmm...
The southern USA just experienced the warmest month in the 100 years that the temperature has been monitored. 4 degrees hotter than the previous record.... Hong Kong is experiencing the most intense megastorm to hit the area in its history.... Last week the East Coast of the USA just experienced the worst flooding in more than 70 years.... This hurricane season is expected to be... (yup, you guessed it) the most intense in our history....

And all of those nifty little news stories in just one day....

Imagine what tomorrow will bring?

You never know. Global warming (maybe) seems to affect the climate changes around the world.

It's cyclical.

...I leave it at that ;) :P heh

Exactly what we need, another "Katrina - Rita 1 2 punch" - ugh I can't imagine :(

However, this whole global warming thing has been overly dramatized. That hole in the ozone layer has been there a long time, it is just in the spotlight now because we fear that we are making it worse. Truth is, it will always be there, no matter what.

Anyways yea - with New Orleans not even ready for hurricane season, boston under 3 feet of water, and the Atlantic Ocean apparently more than capable right now of hurling a category 5+ right into New Jersey, yea I'd say things might get very "interesting" these next few months.

If there is a hole in the ozone, wouldn't that cause all the warming itself???

Melting ice caps = ozone hole.

^^ Yes, but we are drastically accelerating the cycle.

I'm eagerly waiting to see how many cities go down this year.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

It's cyclical.

Flesh that out a bit more would you please.

I'm curious about the length of the cycles and what causes them. Can they be "exaggerated" by human activity? (Can we make "cycles" worse?) What science research are you referring to? Is there contradictory research? By whom?

@Flea. Flesh it out? Happy to oblige.

I'm curious about the length of the cycles and what causes them.

I applaud your curiosity. Cycles are generally three months in length and are called Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter...in that order. The earth's distance from the sun and tilt cause them.

Can they be "exaggerated" by human activity?

Maybe just a little. But only a very little. And if changes are big it's not because of human activity. Big changes are cyclical.

(Can we make "cycles" worse?)

Now you're being redundant. I already answered this question...see "Maybe..." above.

P.S. This is the problem with you tree huggers -- you keep asking the same question until you get the answer you want. Try listening for a change. Start with Rush....he knows the truth.

What science research are you referring to?

Journal of the Three Monkeys

Is there contradictory research? By whom?

Yes. Same idiots which promote that evolution mumbo jumbo.

^LOL. Thanks for the clarification! I was worrying over nothing. But that too is cyclical. Eep, eep.

Forget about global warming. Did any of you see the TV movie last night - Apocolypse 10.1?

Mega earthquakes that split continents in half... That's what we got to worry about.

Did you know that the continental drift will eventually reverse it's course and all the continents will eventually drift back to form the once pre-history single earth continent of Pangea?

Amazing... And it's going to happen within a 25 year period too.

Eep eep! Now you really got me swinging from the trees.

Fo Fo told me that what we really had to worry about was you pulling the covers over our head when you fart!

Yeah, I won't have to worry. Earthquakes like that where described 2000 years ago in the bible. But as the bible says the rapture will happen before that.

LOL
It's interesting as hell how the public voice of religion has changed in the last 30 years.

In addition to resting securely in his dogmatic certainty, I believe J Freak has recently transferred to the Department of Redundancy Dept. Glad to hear that he and others like him won't have to worry.

Anybody remember James Watt?

@F for Freak

What if you're wrong?

Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 4:26:13 AM

Then there isn't a point of life.

Yeah, life without god IS pointless.

Life without god.
you get hurt a lot. You can do whatever you want. Who cares right? There is no right or wrong because there is nobody to tell you what is right and wrong.

Life with god.
you get hurt a lot, but thats because of sin so you just have to wait till you go to heaven. If not you're gonna burn so you better move to seattle so you'll have to dry up before you can burn (yes its a joke). You can't do whatever you want. God is all powerful. God cares. There is right and wrong because God made right and wrong. You have the knowledge of good and evil because of Adam and Eve. You get hurt a lot, but thats because of sin...

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

And back to topic. Laredo, the city I live in, experienced snow. It hadn't had snow for over 30 years.
we normally have tons of 100+ temperatures, in feburary. But this year it was COLD. Its been colder in the summer too. We only have had like 1 100+ day this month... May normally haves tons, likefeburary.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 11:20:42 AM

F for Freak....
You just gave me the creeps.... Why is it that I imagine you typing all that religious gibberish with round, fixed, dead eyes, staring blankly at the screen, face expressionless. (?)

You say that if there is no god, life is pointless? WOW. WOW again.

I can't agree with you, even a little. There is no god and our lives are anything but pointless. I don't know how old you are, but my guess is that you are young and you do not have children yet.
IF you do have kids, you could not possibly believe that your life is pointless unless you have some invisible dude watching over you. You understand the point of your life every time you look into your child's eyes. Not only that, wanna talk about having a reason to exist....once a week (during the fall season) there is an excellent Battlestar Galactica episode.

Since there is a god there is a point of life. If your kid is your only point of life then get more...

If some TV show is your life then go produce it yourself. Yes I do know you were kidding about that.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

My son is Jesus. Prove me wrong.

Thats a nice name.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 12:31:50 PM

FFreak...
No, he is THE Jesus. Although now he goes by a different name. Prove me wrong.

Oh, and by the way... How did this thread veer toward religious fanaticism? This thread was supposed to be about global warming.

Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 1:39:21 PM

When I said something that had religion in it. Then we had to debate. Then I said back on topic. Then you said stuff about me.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Maybe procreation is the point of life. Just like every other species on this planet. My wife made me watch some of that Apocolypse 10.5, it was wicked stupid. Do all you Californicators know how to swim? Learn to swim.
Didn't Jesus Jones sing that song: "Right here right now"? Praise him.
Rush is a douche. Bababooey

Doom to us all sinners...

Do not fear your fate.

Peace

P.s. Global warming is real.

How did this thread veer toward religious fanaticism?

I think it started when I told ACA about Fo Fo warning me, Flea, that what we really had to worry about was ACA pulling the covers over our, FoFo and Flea, head when he, ACA, farted. Then he, Freak, told ACA that he, Freak, didn't worry about that, continents splitting in half and not farts, because it, Bible, said something about them, earthquakes not farts, because it, Bible, said he would be in rapture, ?, before that, maybe from the farts but I'm confused now....
