Help? :(
- b20
Try what everyone else is doing:
1) go to google
2) paste in:
site:http://supra.planetthinktanks2.com
3) type space and put in your search word.
...or go here.
If you purchased the game from ShockWave, or you dont have these shortcuts, you can instead use one of a whole load of preconfigured batch files which can be found in:
<Rant> For cryin out loud, add search to the website! How many times does this have to come up? Bolo already knows how, and offered to do it last spring! Somebody step up and do it fer chrise sake!</End Rant>

I still don't get it. :S
Ok so I went diggin around through the forums and I saw people saying something about a terminal. I don't what this is.
Oh and that quote you made! That's the same problem I am HAVING!! :[
If you purchased the game from ShockWave, or you dont have these shortcuts, you can instead use one of a whole load of preconfigured batch files which can be found in: bravetree/thinktanks/ DEDICATED
The dedicated thing is confusing me. :(
Because I don't have this
DEDICATED
folder.

I bought my copy from Reflexive, so I'm making my own dedicated server.bat files. Here's how.
1 in your TT folder create a folder and name it dedicated (all smalls)
2 inside the dedicated folder rt click (pc) and make a new txt file
3 rename "new text.txt" to XXXX.bat (XXXX= whatever you want to name the file) ignore the warning about changing file types - say yes
4 rt click XXXX.bat and choose edit
5 paste in this bit word or word
Cd..
ThinkTanks -dedicated -mission game/data/missions/XXXX.mis -game XX
XXXX is the name of the map you want to use.
XX is the type of game: TS=Team Scrum, S=Scrum, TB=Team Battlemode, and B= Battlemode
6 save and exit notepad
7 double click TT1_1.bat to launch
Now, test this. If it doesn't work, contact me. It SHOULD make a Battlemode server using your prefs, E.G. The name, bot names, bot types and so forth, of the last server you made. If it works, HOORAY!!

Sorry ZeBoLoBoT. Now that I look at it, it looks pretty nasty. :(
The rant wasn't directed at you at all. I'm just frustrated that it's hard to find anything in a growing forum. I've read about this exact same problem before, and I seem to remember that someone had a solution. I can't find it, and that was what I was ranting about.
A search feature is very simple and would help everyone.
Again sorry.
Hi folks
1 drill down to your ThinkTanks folder and create a new folder called "dedicated" (all smalls)
2 inside said dedicated folder rt click and creat a new text document
3 rename "New".txt to TT1_1B.bat (ignore the rename warning - say ok)
4 rt click TT1_1B.bat and choose edit
5 paste this bit in
Cd..
ThinkTanks -dedicated -mission game/data/missions/TT1_1.mis -game B
6 save and close TT1_1B.bat
7 double click TT1_1B.bat to start - 2 DOS boxes should appear
8 Launch TT and see if your server is on the Master List
9 copy and paste the TT1_1B.bat for other maps and modes
Just rename and edit each
TT1_1TB.bat,TT1_1S.bat,TT1_1TS.bat,TT1_2B.bat, etc
For additional help look to PTT dedicated section or just ask me
Always glad to help
Roo
Thank you Rooster! :)
Question: When I am done with my dedicated server, how do I close it afterwards? :o
Thanks again!
- b20
@ Zebolobot
If you are on Windows, just close the DOS box.
Thread renamed to: Dedicated help
Ok so I did I all the steps that Rooster told me, but there is a problem. When I launch my dedicated server, and double click on my ThinkTanks icon, ThinkTanks won't load. But when I close the dedicated server thingie, the game operates fine again. 8o
How can I fix this? :o
Thanks.
- b20
Zebolo, if you bought the game from shockwave its not in the "Bravetree" folder. Instead, look into "Program Files/Shockwave/Thinktanks/game, and youll find the folder.
The bravetree one was probably the folder used for the demo, and since you cant host servers in the demo, you dont have a dedicated folder.

I had to create the dedicated folder. Everything is fine in the command, the batch file and everything and I have asked people if they can see the decdicated server and they can but my only problem is trying to get into my game. I double click Think Tanks and nothing happens. Nothing at all. It just stays in windows. When I close the batch file and launch the game, the game starts up normally.

I fixed the problem!! There was something wrong with my executable on my desktop that I resvoled. I have a dedicated server now!! XD

Hey I got one more question on this dedicated server thing.
Ok, so I went to this dedicated server help. I found out something about log1. I read the definition to it, but I didn't get it. :o
Does anybody know what is a log1?
Thanks again! XD

Bolo already knows how, and offered to do it last spring! Somebody step up and do it fer chrise sake!</
Aye...i could do it...
Sry but im a nobody on ptt
I did some collaberation with -z- a while back when he was still messing with the site. Just sql stuff with his newly converted mysql db.
Its not a matter of sending the code to danmac either.
I need to explicitly call the database (and see its structure) in order to add a search feature to the site. (I wouldnt have to if using 3rd party tools but since -z- is a nassagist (sp) and hand coded everything)...there is no template for the frames on ptt unless he didnt mention that to me...id have to cut and paste the new frames with the search feature back in.....
-z- would have that done by now if he was here.
Danmac ill help if u want
B
Ok ZeBo
the suffix -log 1 willl send every bit of data created in the console
DOS box to a log file called console.log
This file will be automaticlly created the first time you use the suffix in a dedicated server batch file
and log will be appended each time
Its a great debugging tool when difficulties appear
You can see if a script like dash admin or ModWiz is actually loading
or even a modification like emitters or weapons etc
Roo
The log parameter also collects information like players names and Ip addresses so if you feel it is necessary to ban someone for inappropriate play you can find the information here.
Log is very informative. You should take a look through it.

Hello everyone! :)
Yesterday I fixed the server problem!! XD There is only one ingridient missing from my desire. It's the dedicated server folder. I went here to see on how to make a dedicated server but something hit me. I saw that you need the dedicated server folder, but I don't have one! :( I asked dash if he could help me, and he said that you need to get a dedicated server folder from someone else.
Can anybody help me, PLEASE?! Because if I make a server and is dedicated, there will be NO LAG. My computer is 2400 mhz and I have ADSL (fast internet).
So can someone help me, PLEASE?!
THANK YOU!! :)
P.S. I got this game from Shockwave.
