@Chief,

Yeah, I agree w/that. I will do that soon. Tell me though, I would find it very interesting to see the monthly amount needed to support this site, as well the stats on how many "working members{/I] there are. Then see the averages(actually happening/actually needed) on donation amts. Per [I]"those" members to keep things running. I'm thinking it may only come to a few dollars per one. Not sure.

It costs around $250 to keep PTT up and running! :o

Oh nooooooo Art.

I can't donate here, no credit card.

Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 2:27:52 PM

I just donated... Hmm... Who is that "Generous Person"? Most likely Dan...

Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 3:00:38 PM

Naaa, the Generous Person was a very nice donater who didn't want his name posted. I edited the database a little so his name wouldn't be displayed. I usually "donate" anywhere between 100-$150 a month to help bridge the gap between donations and the actual cost of the servers. I've negotiated a discount for our two servers so you probably won't find a deal on the hypernia site as good as the one we have for the two PTT servers. Still it's a lot of money each month. As far as I know the only person really responsible for PTT is me. 56K has access to the site and code and can make modifications, but in the end the servers are in my name. Zoggles has been gone for over a 1/2 year now I would say, not sure if he'll ever pop up again, but I hope so.

I owe ye, PTT!

Once I get my Fed refund I will toss a chunk-o-change towards the cause...be sure to remind me in a month or so.

@ DanMac

I realize that you are underpaid and overworked when it comes to maintaining this (and appreciations to Lonewolf and others who deal with other maintenance)!

If you get the time, could you possibly make the donations screen -- in some fashion -- show the running totals for each month so that the overages (not likely) or the shortages (more likely) are more exactly shown?

There seems to be some overlapping that is somewhat confusing. If shortages or overages are more visible, it might make it easier for generous persons to donate more readily.

Also, it might be informative to see the record of several months running and not just one month, but that's your discretion.

Personally, if there are overages, I think you should just call it a big ol’ tip.

Just don’t take all the money and go the Bahamas or something with it…(sure it wouldn’t be enough for the taxi to the local airport).

Don't start questioning how much it costs to run this thing. Think about how much cheap entertainment you're getting. You could spend $30 on a dinner and a movie in 1 night, and not even like the movie. With PTT you're getting high powered, adrenaline pumping, action back thrills every single night. Not to mention the witty dialogue and antagonistic sub-plots.

Steal your Mom's Visa and donate today. Any amount helps.
