A General Warning....not a (whaaaaa)

Just to let you know...if you don't start posting comments in the skins threads, you going to loose more real good skinners!...maybe even 'ol doc!

The general concensus on the skins threads are that "due to lack of comments and participation" skinners fade away....

Try spending 4 hours or more on a skin, to post it, have 400 people download it, and only 2 leave feedback...Would you keep going? There are 10's of excellent skins, in the skins thread "graveyard"...threads that are not searchable (to my attempts) therefore not accessable, and burried deep in the ranks of the posts never to be seen again...without EXTREME digging!

If you're not a TT'r into skins and modding your "out-of-the-box" look...then PLEASE try to spend some time simply leaving your comments...on the skins area...

If you are into skins, true, alot of noobs make filtered skins, they suck or whatever, but HEY! One has to start somewhere...this is the most critical time to leave POSITIVE feedback! If you see a skin you like, don't just grab it and go...TELL US!

Don't know if any of you have my frustration with going to the general download area, but everytime I try to get something from there...well, it's just incomplete, in a word. Not to mention, PAINFULL to find ANYTHING you specifically looking for.

On a linear note:
I just visited my freewebs skins site toady after like a month...(sorry)...anyways I saw the counters have gone from over 300 to near 800...while I'm amazed (and honored)...personally only get 1 out of 100 comments according to my counter.

I'm saying the disdain on the skins thread is a valid one....

KEEP SKINNERS SKINNING!...

I for one love to collect skins ! At last count I think I was up to 89 skins I think ! Besides tank skins I also collect scrum balls, treads, brains, brain glass & project tiles. So please keep up the good work ! :)

Please please don't throw in the hat ! I love all your work ! I also like a lot of the new skins that are coming out by the new skinners. Granted they are not as good as yours or Rabbans but like you said,

Good point, this doesn't belong in Skinning. I'll gladly join the business to make up for all the lost skins just as soon as I get Linux and Gimp. For now, I'll have to make do with Photoshop and Paint... *sighhh*

Hey Doc, I'm not all that into skinning in the game,s but have been in Graphic Arts for a long, long, time. Your skins are premium to say the least. I don't think I have ever seen a bad Dr. Sawbones skin. As far as I'm concerned you are the best skinner here PERIOD! Looks like many of us creative people are feeling frunstration from the TT community. I feel your pain Bones! Keep your head up!

...thanks a ton, but hope you all realize I wasn't fishing for personal glorification. Glad you like my skins, and when time permits and concept availablity allow, new skins will come forthwith...
It's just that participation good or bad on the skins thread is reaching critical levels...old skinners are dying off, new skinners, well, they are new skinners and need feedback...since posting this thread I've seen more new skins posted and a bit more activity...but sheesh! You'd think lonewolf, racer, rabban, pyronin and cat were the only folks that even bother on a weekly or daily basis to take the time to share their thoughts with hard working creatives on TT. Certainly not a good reflection of the over 1600 members here....

I spoke with Rabban about this exact issue a couple months ago...I have an idea that will hopefully get all TT'rs more into skinning, even if they are not creatives...I would like to propose an open concept challenge....

So far we have theme sets going on like:
Star Wars
Yellow Submarine
Classic Cars....more possibly...

Perhaps if you have a great concept that would translate well into skin sets, post it here and give the skinning members something to chew on as a team or community, if you will...we could vote for the best concept on the skins thread and all TT skinners could go about making your concept a TT reality!

Sorry all my ideas are for skins I want kept personal for me with pictures only shown to public besides the few I give it too ! Like the Wolf Pack skin (above 3 row last one on the right ) was for my PSL team only. I just like to have 1 of a kind skins or ones that have special meaning behind them. Sorry if that upsets any one ! B)

DrSawbones, I have been using your top right skin for the past 6 months. It is my favorite. I know I saw one of your threads that had more of your skins, but I can't seem to find it now. Could you please post your skins (or a link to them) again in the "Skins" forum. I check that forum at least once a week to see if you have posted a new one. Keep up the good work.

The entire concept of this thread does not soley apply to DrSawbones... I just submitted a skin, to see if any of you would actually post on it, and I got two (2) comments that were about the skin itself.
This disappoints me.
Can you guys stop smothering DrSawbones with love and affection long enough to notice the rest of us that work hard to make skins, but don't get comments on them because they're not the most popular person on PTT?
