For anyone who's seen this thread, I've decided to launch a separate thread about the idea of a TT TCG. I like it, but I still think it could get a bit biased...
*opens pack*
First card:...ME???... A common... :'( oh well, what was I expecting?
Second: Supra:... XD hold it... :[ :o :( COMMON??? WHAT THE!?!?!?
Third: Lonewolf: COMMON??? *throws temporary temper tantrum in head*
*15 painful seconds later*
A FOIL!... Hold it...

JOE??? Awriiiiiggghhhttt, WHO MAKES THESE???

*wakes up in bed*
Lol, what a DREAM!
*gasp, gasp*

You get my point, feel free to chime in with more money, even just 2 cents. After all, that's what PTT forums are for...

Look carefully at the bottom right corner of the cards.

Distributed by enigma inc. All rights were violated.

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 5:58:40 PM

I would be willing to help produce and distribute a set of real (ahem...yes I said real) trading cards if someone can capture some good screenies of individuals in action. Reagent? Are you game? Will work on a design and submit soon. The following could be possible for each card:

1. Player bios
2. In game action shots (on front)
3. Real life photos (on the back)
4. Qoutables (any catch phrases the player is known for)
5. League/army affiliations represented
6. Etc, etc

Suggestions to anything else to be included are welcome. I can handle the printing and distribution but would need help with screenies and info (bio, affiliations and such)

Of course there would need to be a nominal fee. I will crunch the numbers and see what the per card production costs would be (shipping included...may need to keep this within the states to start but would be willing to expand globally if interest warrants) and post an estimate soon.

Distribution may need to be sporadic...in other words, cards will be made available as they are completed. This is largely contingent upon individuals participation.

Of course I would seek permission from bravetree before proceeding. Dont want to step on anyones copyright toes. :) also, any prices that would be determined would strictly be to recover costs only. The intent would be for fun.

Please post your level of interest in this and if you can provide any assistance in seeing this done.

Tell ya what...those interesed can be on the look out for cool action screenies of whomever, and then submit to getsome and the subject in the screenie for approval.

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 9:35:13 PM

Okay...here is a quick mock up of the front of what the front of the card could look like. Keep in mind this was thrown together and my design skills leave alot to be desired (those of you who have skills in this area could be helpful). My apologies to anyone whose image/icon I borrowed w/out permission.

...and yes I realize I put the scrum on a tbm card. I was just trying to add content.

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 9:39:29 PM

Here my card =)

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 9:51:42 PM

This is what I need to see. Granted the proportions are off and it could use a designers touch (2nd request) but the graphics are cool. With a good colaboration we can come up with something worthwhile. And im volunteering my time to produce them...so keep the ideas coming!

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 10:12:23 PM

Hey get some. Sounds fun. I'd be willing to help out with graphics or screenies or whatever. There are a lot of great graphic designers here who I'm sure could whip up something real nice.

Thx rx. We'll let this gain some momentum and then I'll contact you.

Great idea guys for the TT trading cards...
Could also make them animated and store them online on someone website like Rx's...
use Flash MX to make them...

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 6:13:55 AM

Awsome, I'm up for it. You got me for graphic design help as long as I get a card.

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 6:55:33 AM

I'd would be great if everyone submitted a picture of their tank in their favorite skin.

Have that tank in the foreground and in the background, a cool representative graphic of their name/charachter or photo.

I'm swamped right now and can't touch this but can't wait to see what happens.

My card pending.

Here's one I threw together for myself and my PSL8 team.

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 1:51:40 PM

This is sweet. Sadly I don't have enough connections to get myself a card. And I suck at designing. But woo go team!

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 4:21:54 PM

Sweet. And @wal, just get Photoshop, or if you have Windows, take a few screenshots & copy & paste into Paint, and edit away!

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 4:49:02 PM

We need to have the trading cards form a game, like a mock-up battlemode or something...here's what I'm thinking:

----------GAME START - SCRUM----------

-Equip step-
Turn 1: Player 1 places Spunky© (AU/TWC) card face up and equips with "Area effect" (+5 to attack, -1 to shots fired).
------different cards - Speedy (-1 to attack, +2 to shots fired), Bounceback (when fired, it moves in a straight line on the board for 5 squares), Area effect (+5 damage, -1 shots fired)
Turn 1: Player 2 places Racer445© and has no equip cards.

-Move/Attack step-
Turn 2: Player 1 moves Spunky© (AU/TWC) three blocks forward towards the scrum. (there would be a game table, 25 squares, 5 sq x 5 sq and players can move 3 blocks in a light, 2 in a medium, and 2 for a heavy, and add 1 moving block for every 15 experience points, based on in-game experience points)
Turn 2: Player 2 moves Racer445© three blocks towards scrum and uses a fire card on Spunky© (AU/TWC)
Turn 2a: Attack step -
------------Racer445© uses a "Fire 6" card. *rolls dice* He gets a 3, so he hits Spunky© (AU/TWC) three times, and he now has 10/13 health (13 health for light, 17 for the medium, 21 for heavy). Racer445© has 24/30 ammo left.
------------Spunky© (AU/TWC) uses a "Counterattack Fire 3" card. *rolls dice* He gets a 6, so he does no damage. (it should be within the Fire # card's limit, over and it doesn't count, for example if you have a fire 3, you must roll within 1-3 for you to deal them damage) Spunky© (AU/TWC) has 27/30 ammo left.

Turn 3: Player 1 moves 2 spaces and gets the scrum! (scrum ball would be 3D, placed at a random spawn point *explained later* and someone would periodically move the scrum 3 spaces towards the nearest spawn point, except for the one that the scrum ball was spawned at) Spunky© (AU/TWC) moves 1 more space towards the goal.
Turn 3: Player 2 moves 3 spaces towards Spunky© (AU/TWC) and uses a "Fire 6" card.

Etc etc etc, until...

Turn ##: Player 1 has 0/30 ammo left! Discard all of your "Fire ##" cards and "Counterattack Fire ##" cards until you reach the reload gate, in which case you can re-draw cards equivelant to those you discarded.

Or...

Turn ##: Player 1 has been eliminated by Player 2! *Player 1 rolls dice and gets a 4* Spawn at Spawn Point 4. (Spawn points would be marked in a white circle with a number, and where the scrum goal and ball would be spawned would be decided by rolling the die also)

Heal powerups would heal all damage taken by the player, obviously.

Someone would roll the Volcano die every 3 turns on a frantic map, which would land in the volcano zones, marked by red explosions and white numbers.

Hmm...did I miss anything?

Hold it! Player 1 ALSO adds a "Area Effect Hack #2" card to the mod pool during the equip step! The standard area is now a 1-shot kill! Racer kills Spunky with invisible area effect... Oh wait... WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU CALL REPENT'S MOUNTAIN FORTS??? +5 DEF??? Dang field mods... WAIT... Player 1 ALSO calls "Fusion Weapon Area Hack", and it RICOCHETS AROUND IN SPUNKY'S FORT UNTILL IT KILLS HIM! SO HA! Hold it...
*reads Fusion hack*
"This hack only applies to ThinkTanks Revolution mods"? Enter TTRL_02: Mojave Desert!
*Player 2* Now, don't go burning your hand...
*Player 1* No, I'm burning YOU! DIE SPUNKY... #2... AN IMPOSTER??? Oh, well... Foiled again...
*Racer445 is highly offended, being a foil himself...*
Lol, just some more suggestions,

PIC FOR JOE'S CARD!!!

Right there! I have shots of him spamming, too, but I think this one really describes him.

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 5:23:06 PM

Well everyone know that AncientOne is the best card out there. If you get his motorized walker powerup card from your deck, he gets an extra boost of power, maybe making you win the whole game!! Well here is what I think each on you should be(no offense people. Ultra Rare is best, then Super, than rare, than uncommon, then common!

Supra=Ultra Rare
LONEWOLF=Ultra rare
AncientOne=Ultra Rare
TankGirl=Ultra Rare
dash=Ultra Rare
Leopard=Ultra Rare
Rabban=Ultra Rare
Mumke=Ultra Rare
the flood=common
Joe=common
Sil=Ultra Rare
Repent=Ultra Rare
The Prof=Ultra Rare

Everyone looks Ultra Rare...I think...there will be more later!!

That's another whippersnapper belted by the feared AncientOne!

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 7:54:29 PM

Where would I be? Rare? Uncommon? Ultra Rare?

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 8:02:59 PM

Great ideas all! Monkee...i love your design! Sleek, simple and eye-catching! That is right in line with what I imagined, but with more content on the reverse side. Good job!

My thoughts on this is that we have one standardized design (with variations on colors and logos potentially) so that it would enhance the feeling of it being part of a set. Whoever can skillfully design an example should submit it to this thread for consideration. Once we have a design that seems to suit the majority it should be sent to me as a template in tif format.

From there we can schedule "photoshoots" where someone capable of capturing high quality screenies will grab someone in action (or just a posed shot if thats what you choose). I am planning on making a form that an interested individual can fill out online that would provide biographical info to be included on the card. Once all the peices are collected for a single player, that card will be produced and sent to the player. I like rx's idea of having a video version on his site...but I am going to focus on the non-digital version first.

Keep in mind, I am not going to go forward with this until bravetree gives its blessing. Think Tanks is their "intellectual" property and I respect the ethical concerns surrounding that issue. I have yet to contact them about it but will do so in the next few weeks. That doesnt mean we cant still plan though...so keep it coming!

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 10:08:49 PM

With the various observer scripts it is possible to get some really detailed close-up screenies at exactly the angle you want etc. I'll post something when I get a chance.

That would be great...i think isolating a player with guns ablazing would look really cool!

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 10:36:47 PM

Here are some quick screenies I took. II'm sure people could think of all kinds of more interesting shots... I like MM's design though against a monochrome background. Looks very official that way.

RX they looks very nice, but you might turn the radar off. Would look a lot better.
Why not make a java based Think Tanks card game. ;)

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 7:13:34 AM

Let me know who to send the details too. I don't have the set up to do my own card but I will find some one to take a screenie of me to send in (my dang screenies still not working, OMG! :( )

Which one RX? :o Radar you mean?

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

@Triv, yeah to remove the radar.

@Napalm, Nice!!!

RX put this to main.cs: radarHud.visible = "0"; Zero hides radar, One shows it.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 10:24:15 AM

Maybe a card for Linux users...

Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 10:29:37 AM

What a good graphic designer could do is give the rest of us a PSD template for a trading card and post it here. Then everyone who has PhotoShop could make their own personalization. We would then have unique yet homogenous trading cards!

Hmm...did I miss anything?

Please comment, I need comments!

Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 3:23:18 PM

Another idea: ADD A QUOTE TO THE CARD FROM THE PLAYER!
i.e.: Bolo: "You got BOLOED!" (no offense, Tally Ho)
Joe: "I HATE YOU, WINGS"
Me: "It's 'Wings' because I mix on the fly."
Or is that too long?

Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 3:23:31 PM

Ok this is my first so dont laugh

Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 10:34:56 PM

First what, DF?
and @spunky, I think I get the idea, yeah...
could you show me a diagram of a basic turn?
