Meatloaf is a heap of discolored, square "meat" made into the shape of a loaf of bread, thus the term meatloaf. However, the "meat" is sometimes not meat and is actually stuff so disgusting that they won't tell you what's in it, especially when being served as a lunch food. Watch out for this beast of a lunch.

In other words, meat (chopped) in the shape of a loaf, like a loaf of bread, cooked in the oven (usually) Of course, that's the basic answer. The meat is most often spiced up with things like chopped onions, garlic, salt, pepper, etc. Usually some red sauce or ketchup is thrown in as well. There are probably a million ways to make meatloaf. Just go to recipesource.com and look it up.

mix it with anything in your fridge you need to use up that is edible
Bake it in a loaf pan
cover with sauce that hopefully masks the flavor of the meat-loaf!
Prepare for feeding large groups of people or when broke and tired of Raman Noodles
serve with Salt/Vinager Potato Chips and Red Wine

Meatloaf is hamburger meat and breading and sometimes rice is added
almost like a large meatball in shape of bread(loaf)
