I finally have got rid of all spyware on my PC, however I am still unsure of how I got such a bad infection of it.

I am really stubborn and refused to reformat my HD.

Thanks for the all the advice you guys gave however Bolo gets the cigar!

Spyware Doctor destroyed the whole lot in half an hour. CHEERS BOLO !

I found all the other programs good at detecting the crap - however they were all completely useless at removing it.
These included

AdawareSE
Microsoft Defender (what a waste of space that program is)
XoftSpy

I havent got a clue how to remove registy items manully etc so I needed a program that would clean everything automatically.

It cost me 35 bucks AUS - but best money I have spent since buying TT.

I'd recommend it to anyone whos PC gets as screwed up as mine did.

Cheers and beers

Squidy

P.s I owe ya a beer or 10 Bolo !

Hmm, Spyware is apparently on my laptop, I'll be sure to ask my mom about it. Some dumb link leads to a cheap software every now and then and somehow Windows Anti Spyware got downloaded to it.

Gah

Buy a Mac

Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 3:52:11 AM

NEVER!!

Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 3:53:27 AM

^^ If there were as many macs as there were PC's - macs would have exactly the same problem.

Yeah, Macs are no less vulnerable, there's just no point in creating a virus or something for a Mac since so few people use it.

Anyway, another program I recommend: Spybot - Search and Destroy

^ However... You WOULD become amazingly famous in the hacking world to just have done it, lol. :P

I use multi-billion dollar military satellites to find tupperware hidden in the woods... What do YOU do?

I am quite well with the whole no mac users no mac virus theory. It has been proven, though, that macs have some different programming that allows them to not be as vaunerable. Still not sure what it is, but so far the only major mac virus has been the iChat thing and 7dust( :S ). I hated that thing...

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

Buy a Mac

AMEN.

And player they are less vulnerable.

And I doesn't matter that less people use macs. You can use it and not have to worry about virus's, at all!
wouldn't that be more fun. You dont have to care about virus's at all. When one is there its gone in a week at most.

144,000 virus for PC.
1 dead one for apple.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 8:40:43 PM

Let's see...

When I was using windows I got 0 of those 144,000 viruses.

I will refuse to ever buy a mac. Heck I won't ever buy an ipod either, or any apple product.

I'm a happy linux user and proud of it.

Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 8:47:48 PM

^ you don't see Mac users talking about spyware etc.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 9:01:56 PM

Haha... Yeah... You never hear linux users talking about spyware etc either.

Again, I have never gotten one peice of spyware etc on windows, EVER.

Man mac users are so cocky...

When you are serious about downloading TONS of shiuuff like I am you HAVE to have a pc and u HAVE to have antivirus/spyware and a firewall. The triple combination I mentioned before are FREE solutions and ive NEVER had any problems since then. All I get are cached items that I delete automatically anyway. It sucks that u have to dedicate so much resources to this stuff where u dont with macs and linux but its well worth it for me. BTW I got ubuntu up and running and im slowly gonna swith over my computing til EVERYTHING I do is on linux (except the downloading). Id suggest the same move for anyone saavy enough to make the switch. If your not a saavy computer person (like 90% of mac users) a much better option is to use a mac and just do downloading and chatting (and any other pc only stuff) on a separate pc that u dont use for anything else. There are emulators for mac and linux but u need some serious hardware balls or a lot of patience to use them. Im ready to quadruple boot unix, linux, mac, and windows anytime it gets figured out!!!

You might try a new Chipzilla Mac and Parallels Virtualization.

Course, "Bootcamp" from Apple will let you boot Windows at native speed. I'd personally put Windows on an external HD outside the house rigged with a blasting-cap with the Easy button programed into my mouse just in case.
