From what I can find. This first Demo of ThinkTank came out Monday April 28th, 2003.

ThinkTank 1 Year, at 6AM April 28, 2003

I propose we have All comers Field of Screams Frantic Match... Anniversary addition.... Now the problem... How do we invite the old timers:

Tank Dork, FoulPlay, Jangles, Tally Ho, #1 Tankster, CowBoy, Sherman ,Az, Baba, z, 56 Lag Man, HugoBrain, PREY, itank.

I'd be willing to host the Server, but it would be cooler if Az did it for old time sake.. BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME? I would guess to respect the old times. The games would start at 9 PM PDT Wednesday April 28th.

Any Thoughts?

EDIT Also add names I've missed... Like PokeMalo, CR-MAX....

Actually, the launch date was earlier than April 28th PREY. I have an email receipt from April 26th, and I know I played the demo for at least a few days before purchasing it at GarageGames. Keep in mind that it was released for the Mac first, then Windows. Unusual for most games, but that's the way BraveTree chose to do it.

@OM what day should we celibrate with the 1 Year Anniversary Frantic Scum? I got out of demo's May 17th. I remember wanting to chase down the sprite TankGirl light in BattleMode after getting my light and never finding her... Don't remember how long I was a demo. The 26th falls on a Monday. Perhaps we should make Frantic Demo on Monday... Everyone uses a demo Medium... Heh... Then Frantic Light on Wednesday the 28th... Demo Merv should definitely join the game on Monday.

What do you think?

Sounds good. Monday's are not the best for me, but if everyone else agrees, I'll go with it.

Playing in Meds would be funny. Sorta nostalgic. That's what I started in (and I'm sure many others too)

I'm not sure if the exact date matters too much. What's important is that TT has been around for a year and we need to have a commemorative game.

Hmm... It was either the 25th or the 26th of April, 2003. (those days /night were kind of a blur) and yes, we did it on the Mac first, linux second, and PC last (a week later). It shipped on GaragGames first, then shockwave, then real arcade (some months after the initial release)

And I do have a throw rug in my house, but I don't know what's under it. I'm afraid to look, I mean Tally might be under there!

OK, Let's go with the Monday 26th Day at 9PDT. Think most of us don't play on Sunday. There will be at least one server setup for Frantic. Let's Kick up the Rug..

9 PDT? As in 12 Midnight EST? That's a bit late, but I'll drink lotsa java to stay up for it.

I don't mean to exclude anyone. I'd like the old timers to show, but anyone can play the Think Tank Anniversary game on Monday.

That is a good time for me in fact.

I remember playing the demo for a while (along with kj and Dar).

I just liked the game so much I decided to register/buy.

We still just played solo mode for a while.

(None of us being "online gamers" at all)

Suddenly someone pushed the online games button and pooof it was like Alice through the looking glass.

We had entered a whole new realm, a whole new plane of consciousness.

We were pretty well hooked from that moment on.

First player we recall seeing with any regularity was you Prey.

My gosh we thought you were a jerk. LOL

You would steal the scrum from us in Team scrum (same team), shoot us and take it from us (same team).

Oooooh we would be so mad, but not good enough to do much about it..... Yet....

Then we encountered #1Tankster, Tank Dork, Tally Ho, Azazel, HugoBrain, Jangles, Wal, Kid, Mudda, Combat Rock, -z-, *cowboy*, FP, *, and more and more and on and on....

The rest is history, or the present as the case may be.

Much fun for our $19.95 that is for sure.

@Baba wow, I don't remember... I guess I would get on a scum server and not even notice a color or a team...

I do remember going from Battlemode to Scum and not notice in early demo days. I wondered why these guys would ignore me shooting everyone and just chase a ball flag thing... Heh! The hazzards of a demo bouncing every 4 minutes and choosing the top listed server... Everything was battlemode right?

Nice poster babs.

I remember making darting moves to bring the scrum to the goal, only to have Tally take it and immediately score. Wooo I hated that.. Got to the point of shooting him on sight. He'd still spawn and get the ball... Score. Man I hated that evil thief... Could do nothing about it. Dork was Tally's twin. A wall at the goal as well. Remember asking if they were the same person...

. Prey then got really good at shooting.... Much like the current Bolo... BMing everyone.. I think I really dis-like the tactic now... I grew out of it in about 2 - 3 months and evolved. Bolo is still going strong. So much like early PREY... Man I hate that..

We all go thru the process.

TD and I are clones. I use the WASDEE keys, he jams the arrows. Left brain right brain, singular cortex. Black/White, yin/yang. We never got to challenge giggles and wanky for their alleged crowns, but perhaps the day will come.
