I defrag, clean, virus/spy check, reg check, error check, clean cpu fan, dust, upgrade drivers, bios whenever their available! I don't overclock, I use minimal tweaks, don't browse porn, warez sites. Basicly don't do anything to deserve 4 major crashes with one reformat in just three years! The latest, a blue screen of death. May need to reformat again! Stop error 0x24. I did nothing new. Last pc for me, time to listen to Mac faithfuls. Worst part is I'm done with TT till it's fixed. Even if I had the game to install it's useless on this old laptop.
Bill Gates, if I see you in the streets yer done punk! Not that I will see the little fake, he's too busy buying priceless sculptures and islands to worry about how his second-rate product and useless support site tortures a lowly consumer like myself.
Sorry for the rant. I had to vent. No need to respond.
Actually I really do feel better. Thanks.

No need to stop playing TT. Go to distrowatch.com and check out the many different flavors of Linux operating system you can get for free. It will at least tide you over till you get your Mac. I have two older laptops one with Windows XP the other with slackware. My four year old gets the blue screen of death at least once a month in Win. Has somehow disabled the graphics driver and yes, we have to run anti-everything all the time. So far my favorite Linux distro's are Fedora, Slackware and SuSE. If you need any help just email me.

Hey, guess what? YOU'VE SEEN THE LIGHT! You're leaving the Dark Side! YIPPE! (By the way, Apple offers FREE OS updates... Like if you bought Mac OS 10.3.1, you get to upgrade to Mac OS 10.3.7 for FREE! No 'service packs'! But if you want to update to Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger), then you have to spare $100.

How many times can I smack you with a brick before you realize, although it can be done and is effective, is not the best thing for you?

Think about it........

I had to tweak my windows a bit so I don't get that crap every month (say every year). But now I get minor errors everywhere,go figure.

I really wanna mac...

Yes! Yes! That's what I like to hear! When I'm a millionaire, I might give a free MacMini to every Windows user!

Whats blue screen error, exactly?

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Oh that one! I haven't had that error for years. Last time I got error like that when I was still using win 98 about 2 and half years ago. Thought one weird things happens with my xp. Sometimes when I open up my computer ans choose drive to open, it will freeze up and I have to shut it down from taskmanager.

Well I fixed it by trying EVERYTHING. At one point I called an "expert" pc support site. After an hour , he said I would need to reformat and that'll be $40! I went off on him and his supervisor till they reversed the credit card charge.

Triv, the actual error was Stop 0x00000024 (parameter, parameter, parameter, parameter). It's a corrupt ntfs partition. Doing a search on the parameters came up with nothing. To fix it I got to C:prompt with XP boot discs. I had to copy autochk.exe from a friend's comp. NO ONE I knew had an xp oem disc. Manufacturers are so cheap they don't give you what you rightfully pay for. Then I ran chkdsk /r anf fixboot.
Still have problems though. It's much slower and burning/dvd software keeps freezing up. Windows hang. I'm about to try TT, "Our father.......... Amen"
I'd appreciate it if someone could do me a favor. I'm backing up my files and removing my antivirus, send me some nasty ones so I can get a MAC! Then again the Louisville Slugger method would be fun.
Nuts, I think I will explore Linux first. People tell me it's much more stable and less errors.

ELFuEgO thats cool. Not all Linux versions are stable, lol. I use Fedora and Slackware. Fedora has all the new hot "things", but ultimately you are a tester for Redhat. There have been a few times I had to uninstall/add something here or there to get things to work right. The most stable Linux distro that I am aware of is slackware. You should check out the slackersbible.org site.
