By deleting you messages. If all messages in a thread are deleted, then the thread itself is removed.
You cannot delete a thread with other peoples messages still in it - in the same way that you cannot delete other peoples comments.
Just because a question has been answered doesnt make the thread null and void and worthy of deletion, it might answer someone elses future questions and save a repeated thread at a later date.
