The AOL Optimized PC

Who would buy this junk? I mean, c'mon, AOHELL is making a computer now? PCs have seriously gone downhill, maybe it's time to switch to Mac or Linux.

You know it's got a lot of sweet features when things like the "Extendable Paper Reception Tray" and the "Cloth Speaker Cover Mesh" are carefully labeled.

Pretty sure a lot of people will buy it. Big companies usually plans very well what they are going to make and who they can sell it-

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Who would buy that junk? Probably me granny, George W. Bush, Tally Ho, and Bolo would give millions for that.

I can't understand why they mislabeled the sweet coffee cup holder. You'd think that would be a big selling point.

Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 5:57:17 PM

"The New AOL Optimized PC now comes loaded with more spyware then ever!"

Seriously folks, I tried this in the store (CompUsa) and I tried to get in to Task Manager via the task bar. It wouldn't let me, itstead, it says "This computer is not allowed to use task manager."

However, I finally got in it using the run command. There must have been 50 things running, half of them I don't even know what they are.

I think that's just scary that AOL would resort to that kind of crap just for more money. I mean, come on! They own basically every big business on the market, they rake in billions and billions of dollars every year and they want MORE money? They get more money in a year than most people will get in a lifetime of hard working and actually doing something, but all they do is sit around and overcharge for a lousy ISP, occasionally pressing a button to accept an incoming request. I think that it's funny that the people that do the most in society today (ex Janitors) get paid the least, while a bunch of fat, lazy, overpaid jerks make all the money doing nothing at all! Think about it; why do bankers make money? They don't do anything, except for put money in a vault and use it to their liking! My dad transfered money to Toulouse in France so that we could have money to use there when we travel in February, and it cost $40 just to transfer money online! Do they even earn those $40 in the least? NO! If Janitors earned $40 at a time for wiping up people's shit in the bathroom stalls, then this society would be a much better place to live in.

Thank you.

Macs are The Biggest Piece of Shit That ever Met The face of the Planet

Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 8:20:10 AM

Spunky, This is what the banker did when he got your $40.

PS: How many janitors do you think AOL/TimeWarner employs?

@ Bolo RE: "Pay more for something that does less"

Hmmm... Less viruses (as in NONE) and less malware (as in NONE).

I think I'd rather have "less". With that "less" I get from my OS X Mac system I seem to get so much more enjoyment than my PC using friends. Have fun with your Windows system. Your antivirus software is calling. Good luck & G'day.

@56K re: your link.... LOL :P

So what? Just learn how to live with it and how to avoid getting one.

Their persuasive language is making me buy one of these. Man I cant wait these 7-21 shipping days. I can't wait for these amazing features!

1. One of the greatest deals ever on a loaded powerhouse desktop PC and monitor
2. The spectacular Systemax AOL PC runs on a blazing fast Intel Celeron 2.0GHz CPU
3. That carries with it 256MB of lightning-quick DDR main memory
4. So many extras that we could fill volumes of literature describing them
5. And this fantastic computer is housed in a sleek, stylish fully equipped black Micro ATX tower case with 250-Watt power supply

Oh Boy I Can't Wait!

Friday, December 31, 2004 at 7:24:38 AM

@ Racer RE: "So what? Just learn how to live with it and how to avoid getting one."

I agree. You can do such by getting a Mac. ;)

Friday, December 31, 2004 at 7:34:34 AM

Friday, December 31, 2004 at 7:47:02 AM

I'm not even finished with it yet! O_o

That's the introduction, I'm going to make it at least four minutes long.

Friday, December 31, 2004 at 7:53:55 AM

LOL

I always get a kick out of these threads and how they eventually turn into Mac vs EverthingElseInTheWorldComputerIMadeMyOwn.

Usually it can be summed up as; Macs are to expensive as I can get my Windows based EverthingElseInTheWorldComputerIMadeMyOwn that does everything your Mac does for a lot less.

OK, then why would you spend anything more than what AOL is offering? Obviously cheapest is best, otherwise you're an idiot. Right?

To say otherwise would mean there must be a difference in what goes inside and with who makes it.

http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/36120.html

"At the low end, therefore, the PC desktops are marginally less expensive than the Macs -- if you can do without their connectivity and multimedia capabilities -- and considerably more expensive if you can't. At the very high end, however, all of the design focus is on multimedia processing and the PCs simply aren't competitive from either hardware or cost perspectives."

I absolutley will not buy a mac, however Linux looks better and better since it is basicly a Unix-Based Windows...

Hmm... A Unix based windows...

Obviously cheapest is best

Yeah, like stuff from the dollar-store. I remember buying a battery there that lasted 3 minutes on my Gameboy!
