When I am in any of Dash's servers, I get a nice fire rate and my bullets come out evenly spaced. In other servers (like roos) I get a worse fire rate and my bullets fire three real quick, then at a random pattern.

All things being equal except for the server (my ping is always very good), is there a logical explanation for this?

It gets very frustrating being able to compete in some servers, and not in others.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell.

Mine is just the opposite, I have great fire rate in roos, but terrible fire rate in Dash's.
Sometimes in Dash's I never see any bullets come out but I see the tank take hits that I'm shooting.
I have no explanation to why this happens.

Dash has probably "opened up" his network settings in the server's prefs. You might be able to see even greater fire rate if you do the same in your client prefs. See the explanation here .

The MI: and IA: servers also use the "opened up" settings.

So does Roos
It probably has more to do with the network hardware and tracert
Also I have noticed if someone comes in with mucho lag it effects everyone in the server to some degree

Are you sure Roo? My data rate in your server is the same as vic's dedicated server and much less than dash, Nuts, or MI.

Well BC
Proximity is also a factor
Dash is half as far away from you as I am
Even though I have nearly T3 capability (9mbs down and 3mbs up)
and I am sitting in the middle of the fiber optic ring only 10 miles from the hub
I am East Coast

Ah new discovery - On Linux Client pref reside in ,bravetree directory
I noticed that even though the changes were made months ago it never compiled
I copied it to ThinkTanks/game/Client and restared my server
This time it definately compiled

Plz lemme know if this makes a difference for you BC

Thanks for posting this, I made those changes too. My firerate was better, but my ping was also higher. Any reason for that?
