Bimp and I have made a race track, actually Bimp made it and I was his assistant, for the olympics and we need a script for the lap counter and a script that lets you spawn where you died. I know there are people out there who can help with this, if you don´t want to post it then send me or Bimp an email.

Thanks

Let me put it another way lets say you could change a spring pad so that when you drive over it it counts a goal like in scrum but only without the scrum. Is this possible and would it work?

Personally I would have given it to you had I known.

Oooooohhhhhhh, the burn. Micheal, you should give it to him, but you cold ask for something in return. OR you could get the map from him, and put the script in! He might not find out how to do it! %)

Bimp,

Tried emailing you the screenshots I took, but they keep coming back as undeliverable. Do you have a limit on the size of email you can recieve? I tried sending them to Jinx & got the same thing.

In the meantime, here's one of the shots. Lining up for the start!

WOW! Very nice skins, is that usa flag as light tanks skin? And theres a palm tree too! You made them?

Wait a second... I think I have that palm tree skin :p

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Thanks. I posted all of them in the skins forum awhile back. (Palm trees, bark, granite rock, desert terrain, flag tank, etc.) Just noticed I forgot to switch the detail1.jpg. The terrain looks plastic.

I am sorry I could try to do the counter but it will do no good you would need a whole differant section to diplay it... :( sorry

But you would need a new varible for the score and a way to display it... I believe yas but.... O you mean like make it think your in scrum but like make the goal when you cross over it you get a lap! Yeah thats kool that actually might work... %)

@ Triv: Please send Bimp or myself an email and explain how to do it. The next problem is how do we set control points up on the track, lets say 8 of them so that people can´t cut through the middle and still score?

You could have more than one goal so that a bunch whould go accross the track. Then you could make the goals invisible so that it looks more like a race. Then try to get Triv to help you with the rest ;).

I just came to congradulate Jinx for those honkin' light usa flag skins.....as for the counter.....maybe you could make a checkered patteren on strip on the ground and do the invisible goal thing from there :P

Those skins are from KBC.

Hello! Someone get a lap counter script!

Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 11:25:53 AM

Scripting is still pretty new to me, but maybe you can get it to work. Get the.cs files PokeMalo released and check out the "special.cs" and "splevels.cs". Try to use the Data from those solo Brain collection levels. You get points for each brain.

// $Game::BrainPoints - how many points for brain?

You could put the brains around the track and use them to score. That would also keep people on the track because you want to collect the brain to score.

%startScore = strfrap(strswiz($Game::idleText @ "client",12),%tank.client.spscore);

%score = %startScore + $Game::BrainPoints;

%tank.client.spscore = strfrip(strswiz($Game::idleText @ "client",12),%score);

SPScoreGui.setScore(%score);

LocalClientConnection.brains++;

SPBrainCounter.setCount(LocalClientConnection.brains);

Sunday, July 11, 2004 at 10:18:21 PM

@ wwmSWAT(ra: Thanks you very much for your effort it was a very big help! ;)

@ Billy Bob(SEAL): Please be more constructive with your comments. If you can´t make a better one then just be quiet and you might learn something. We are very aware of the problem that you can drive back and forth over the counter and get points and we are still working on getting the bugs out.

@ All: We would aprieciate any help or suggestions on the above mentioned problem.

Well, I've seen your mod, Blackfoot, and I like it.
Well, I am not yet fully acquainted with TorqueScript, but I have a solution that should work, so I'll just explain it to you, or I could give you an example of it in a different programming language if you want (I love JavaScript/ActionScript/ECMAScript!)

Okay...

/******************************
* Make 4 different bounce pad rows, equally spaced around the course.
* Designate one of the bounce pad rows to be the lap marker,
* and then have a function that runs when you go across it that
* first sets its own flag variable to 1 (bear with me) and then
* checks to see if each of four flag variables, which are changed
* from 0 to 1 when you pass over the other three bounce pad rows,
* are already checked, and if they are, then and only then add a point
* to the person's score, and then change all the flag variables back to 0.
* If all the flag variables aren't set to 1 when the person goes over the lap
* marker, then they don't get a point. Obviously they won't have gone over the
* whole race track, and even if they did cut out, they wouldn't have gained much
* time in doing so because they'd have to come back in at certain points periodically.
******************************/

By the way, if someone could briefly explain to me some game structure (i.e. What variables to access to change point values, how to alter tank positions on the map, some useful basic commands, etc.), then I could quickly write it for you!

-z-

Tradesman:
That has already been done, but is not implemented in that mod yet. I have written a lap counter with checkpoints that have to be passed through sequentially.

Tight. Shouldn't have wasted the effort.
