I remember when PTT was an interesting concatenation of young and old. The community seemed to be an amalgamation from all perspectives of any given topic and it made for very interesting debates. It seemed like we could have fun discussing just about anything. Sure we had silly squabbles, but mostly there was a fun and intellectual banter..... Those times are clearly over. The degenerates of the community have become the vocal majority and have diminished PTT in much the same way that they eventually ruined the GG forum.

I have been away lately and every time I stick my nose into this forum, I find nothing but kids slamming each other, incredibly poor grammar and even worse spelling. I see nothing but testosterone-laden punks arguing about who is the bigger man....in a forum, this is about the most ridiculous thing in the world.

Then there are the never-ending mental-midget trolls who define themselves by their ability to disrupt the fun other people are having. These people have proven themselves to be the most pathetic of all. Something is truly lacking in their lives, and they find some false sense of self by being jerks.... What kind of misfits these people are! Unbelievable bottom feeders who probably have no real-world relationships.

Clearly there are still some vets that visit the forum from time to time, and there are some kids who are totally respectable in how they handle themselves here. There are also some good forum topics interspersed among all of the arguments and name calling.... But not enough to make me feel good about spending my time here anymore.

It used to be that I visited here several times a day and actually looked forward to what new topic has been started, or to see where a thread that I had started may have gone... But now I only feel embarrassed when I visit here. Embarrassed that I keep coming back to a place that has degenerated into inane banter, arguing, name calling, and the ever-present adolescent chest thumping of which clan is better.... As if the fucking clan means ANYTHING.

If you read this far, thank you. I expect a flurry of fourth-grade insults as replies.... So have fun.

Too bad, this used to be a great place to come to for fun, interesting, and stimulating conversation.

It is all yours now.....

Hey K8, I agree 100%. I miss the old forums too. Used to be a lot of fun to see what was going on in here. A lot of interesting topics, useful TT info and fun, intelligent banter. Now you can just look at the sheer amount of posts in the afternoon and see that the kids are home from school.

I too, long for the 'good old days' There are still the occasional good debate threads or ones like your photo thread that I look for, but lately my attention to PTT has been waning too. There always seems to be too much crap to wade through. After a while it gets difficult to keep your head above all the garbage.

On top of less and less interest in the forums, I have less and less interest in the game itself. Soon I won't even check in here. Well, as they say, "all good things…"

I agree 100 % also! I thought that this site was created because of all the crap a GG but just as usual, all the "tolls"(as taurus would say) hear about it and decide to cause some trouble, just like they do in the game. And the only reason they do it is to get noticed by every one. If they are the biggest "trolls" they can be , every one reports them and the get thier 15 minutes of fame...

I've usually been too busy trying to raise more of the above mentioned kidlets, to hang in the forums much anyway.
You are busy on that track too.
Yaaaaa.... TT is one of many spokes in my wheel of life.
The Forums seem much more of a refection of society (especially certain demographics within in it as you note) than the cool clubhouse we once played in.
The good peeps are still here though, they just seem to keep well hidden at times.
Good peeps they are too.
I still have fun, still get something from it, still like sharing it with my kids...thus I still keep coming back.

I'm new to the PTT, K8, but I understand completely. The thing I don't understand is why you're leaving and letting the "trolls" drag you down. You have to fight back...in fact we all should. We can't let these spamin' idiots have their way and mess up the forums and games. Every time we see them in a game, for instance, beat the snot out of them. It's getting annoying how, if I may interject some humor, if you had a censor on some of the forums and some of the games, all you would get would be either "bleep" or trash talk slamming another "troll", or, even worse, a respectable player( I got called a "b****" the other day cause I killed a guy while he was chasin' one of my team mates.). Since you guys are vets at the game, and, therefore, more expierenced, you can easily kick thier collective butts in combat. I think it's about time we show them what TT is REALLY about... Having a good game and a good clean time while you're at it. Your choice, K8 and all you others,......let the "trolls" have thier way, or fight them and show them who's boss.

How's THAT for a pep talk?

I hear you and feel the same way. Good folks are all around, but their voices are too easily diluted. Easier to focus on a small number of threads.

The response to this thread has been, to say the least, refreshing. It reads as a who's who list of respected players in the world of tt. I too understand your frustrations but I must say that you only deprive yourself of the clever, witty, insightful, humorous and jovial banter oft provided by the impressive group that precedes me...taking into account the garbage you have to sift through to get to it.

I suggest taking a page from rabban's book. He still remains, despite the mind-numbing adolecent presence in the forums, and continues to contribute inteligent and thought provoking discourse...even throws some humor in there every once in a while! Granted...there are gaps between his forum topics but he never disappoints. Stinky...more of the same for you...even though I am late in discovering your special brand of threads.

Take a break...if one is needed...but dont declare a self imposed exile. It only further lessens the quality of the forums for the rest of us. Perhaps what we all need to do is make more of an effort to communicate with each other ( i.e. The inteligent ones) so that the forums dont appear to be overrun with dim-witted, testosterone ridden, juviniles that dont yet appreciate the rewards of decency.

All that being said I must protest your comment:

This is not the case for all and a bit offensive to me as anonymity has no bearing on how I present myself as a man or a person. A distinction between males such as myself (in addition to the many others above) and the "trolls" of the community would have been appreciated.

Nonetheless, I am sad to see you go, if in fact that remains to be the case. Thank you for the photo thread and good luck to you.

I have ammended the statement to include the word "Some" since this is what I intended with the statement. I never meant to say that ALL men and boys degenerate under the cloak of anonymity since this has not been my experience. I have been very vocal over the past year regarding the incredible wealth of intelligent, sensitive, passionate, and quick-witted men/boys in this community.

@ALL:
The conversations and debates that I have been involved with here have changed some of my perspectives of the world.... Literally. This has been an amazing experience (so much so that my friends and family are tired of hearing me talk about this community.)

Although there are many, many wonderful personalities who no longer visit this forum, those who replied to this thread represent some of the best of the best in the community. It sure is refreshing to see a list of replies that do not include silly arguments, name calling, or chicken-scratch english. I wish this would be the standard (rather than the exception) in threads, like it was in the beginning of PTT.

Remember what a wonderful experience it was when we all moved from GG to PTT? I miss that time.

Anyway, I will still visit the game once in a while, and I will ALWAYS look forward to playing with my friends of this community.....

@TankGirl, you were of the only 5-6 players who brought the fun to PTT as well as discussing great issues. I mean for you the best in life and if you have the chance for the sake of the players....say hi and bye here a couple times because you sure will be missed. Me saying bye to you is a pretty hard thing not mentioning YOU, slugthog, Azazel, Reagent X, and HugoBrain were the only ones I looked up to saying I know I can be the scrummers like them and always watching you play listening to your personality it gave me a *Thud* always to go at it and youll become a good scrummer. Althought I'm only 68% of the scrummer you are, I know that if you kept at it I would be a hundred. My Scrumming tactics are only 80% without you. Please play often and make that 20% up.

I think the number of interesting threads started to decline as you got busier and busier with work. Like RX said, there are some good games during the late night hours (late for those of us east of the Mississippi). Stop in once in a while to say Hi.

I must admit I didn't read the book of a post you left but from all thats been written I got that you're an amazing and fun player who is unfortunately leaving ThinkTanks because of its current abundance of idiots. I just want to remind you that there are at least a couple dozen fun and skilled players in this huge community, which is more than enough to have a full and fun game. Visit often.

I agree to an extent... There are still a few good thread with the occasional compelling drama here in the general forums. You gotta sift thru a lot of BS to get to them... But they're out there.

The Skins, Modding, and Help forums are excellent sources of data and information. I love the Skin Library.

The Leagues forums have been bogged down with a lot of clan/army threads. But there are still some really good leagues going on right now. I wish we had a separate forum for clans and armies.

All and all, I think this is a well diversified and compelling online community. I got board with the actual game but stuck around because I like the people. Hehe, go fig...

By the way, I noticed this is your second "I'm Leaving" thread. LOL, not to worry, I've posted four of them! (Hanksta was right... They all come back!) *except stimpy, he never came back...

Can't agree more, Kate. I very rarely venture into these forums anymore for most of the same reasons you stated.
And like many others said (and as you all ready know), there are still many great people out there and some great late night games. Hopefully you will find time to stop in and play a few rounds occasionally.

Yes, I to have felt it... I chose to put up with it XD but yes, I agree with u TG, I used to check the forums at least 3 or more times a day (and I still do) but it's just not as intresting as it used to be, now I mostly check the league section, and reply to some of the General ones.

I still enjoy the League section, but it wasn't as intresting as the General used to be, now it's the oposite.

I haven't been here long, but I agree with Tankgirl. I'm just barely eleven, and the little kids we have to deal with are only a few years younger than me. But we do need the mods back. I'm not sure how old any of you are, but it seems like the mods are busy with something, such as college, maybe. Oh, well.
