To all who have a T1-3 this is your
chance to come clean and post
your connection speed here.

I know dominator 2 AA is one of them
he inadvertently told me in a game.

I have dsl @ 1.5 mb upload. And I never
challenge ppls who I know has a slower
speed, for one reason,...cuz there is no
CHALLENGE.

Ppl with known slower speeds: septic, frantic flea
GQ shooter, 56k(when he had 56k), woohoo, ect...

Those of you that have a T connection should
seek ppls with equal connection. Unless you
are trying to fool yourself into thinking your a
great player.

So pls those of you out there that have T connection
post here, so that others can turely test their skill
as a TT player.

I had a 768k broadband which has now been upgraded to 4meg broadband last week (300 and something upstream speed I think)...

...if anything, I have been playing worse

Sorry to ruin your theory

I don't even know you laser, And everyone knows I useually only play the shockwave servers. Why? Because I respect those who have faster connections. I don't think you should be the connection police. Geeeesh It's not always about the challenge, sometimes it's about just hanging out with good people. Having fun!!! Etc.

The best way to get your ping down is go to a server CLOSER to you. Then they'll say, "Oh how is your ping so friggin low?!" You respond "Wow! I only have a DSL connection and look at my ping!"

Trust me. The closer you are to the host, the better.

^ yes very true
Those who have been on my server know this, I am pretty far away to most of you
I have a T1 but you will still have lag on my server :(

I have a T3 connection... There's never any lag in my servers (unless there might be some dude with dial-up in Ireland). Pages load in.... About... 0.01 seconds. Pages with tons of images usually load in about 0.2 seconds (these are of course sites that have never been loaded before. I can download a 12mb pdf manual in about 2 seconds. :)

^ arowooo...

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

You can have a ping lower than 1 ms and still lag if your processor can't handle the TT application. Computers with less than 1 Ghz are culprits. Spyware and viruses can bog even a 3 Ghz computer down. Playing MP3s might be enough to cause TT to lag.

You need both a low ping and enough CPU/GPU power to be lag free.

I have cable, a Athlon XP 2600+ @2.2ghz and a Geforce FX 6600GT, no lag at all. Pings Dash Bash at 30.

The game was designed to run at dial up speeds - therfore
lag is the ONLY issue
If the game uploads and downloads at 5kps what difference is 100kps if only 5 is used?

I never go to British servers, not because the British suck or anything (quite the opposite, they're better than us), but because I get horrible ping. I myself have Verizon DSL.

@pablo

Its called an adjustment period, all the time playing with
lag must have affected your timing. Give it a couple of
more weeks and im sure you will agree with me.

@GQ

You are right in a full server who cares about speed,
but I was referring to those with a T connection that
challenge other player with a less conn. Speed to a
ONE ON ONE match. So sry for the mix up.

Btw why would you respect those with faster connection?

I respect those with slower connection that still manage
to win a game than ones with the faster connections. It
would seem to me they are better players.

Also you do know me as Leadpoison or Humope.

Laser you are right. I'm sorry I misread what you were trying to say in your first comment. I reread it and now understand what you were saying.
"I have dsl @ 1.5 mb upload. And I never
challenge ppls who I know has a slower
speed, for one reason,...cuz there is no
CHALLENGE."
@Btw why would you respect those with faster connection?
Answer is simple. I don't like to cause other people to be affected by my lag issue's from my dial up. Not fair to a group of players having a good game and then I come in and everyone starts to dance around. Thats what I meant by respecting others with good connections. I have a concience I guess. BTW (GIRL POWER)

^ class act there... We should all be so considerate! :)

It seems to me that the data goes to and from the server at a set rate. If I play on a connection that can handle a ton of throughput, but the game only serves up data at 1/100th of that capacity, I get no advantage from my high bandwith connection. I can't make the server send data any faster than anyone else.

My only advantage is in sending my data lag free, but the data returning is still at the same rate as everybody else.

I found out that we have 6Mbps download and 384Kbps upload.

I can play on my friend's dialup(Peoplepc) and it still feels fast, because the hardware makes up for what you lose in internet speed, even though I am pinging in the 100's.

Monday, November 14, 2005 at 7:25:26 AM

@R

If thats true im switching to Peoplepc tomarrow.

Doesnt make sense to pay for a higher connection
if u can play with 56k and keep up with others that
have cable.

But isnt that the reason 56k lagman got a faster
connection?

Peace
