I was wondering about that a while ago and decided to post this thread.
You just need to post a thing you would like to get invented.
I think I would like someone to invent teleports (can't unstick to the "/", "t", "e", "l" keys since I dropped glue on my keyboard lol (remember I got /tele on my admin codes version so don't think I'm making this up))
I would also like to have a new sport type invented:
Scrum! Even if I'm not a big lover of this sport , it'd be nice to see it on real TV being played by real men in real tanks (it could be just men if you want)

Now tell me your ideas!!

OM

Did you know that "Scrum" is just a term for a play in rugby?

The dictionary.com description does a pretty good job of capturing indie TT scrum: :)

I had an idea that I thought was brilliant. I had just learned about the venerable Cadmium Sulphide Cell and I thought it would be a great idea to put one on every light pole, AND on every car. On Light posts, it would read the ambient light and automatically turn on the lights when it got dark. On a Car, not only would it automatically turn on the lights due to darkness, it would also control high and low beams.....

Imagine how sad I felt when I found out that light posts already employ the Cell, and Cadillac was already using them on their cars...

At least it shows that I had a great idea eh?

Imagine this as a pickup line: "Hey. I invented sliced bread."

Non-stop train.
Trains would be much faster than cars in transit if they didn't have to stop at every stop. Buses are slightly less problematic, but then you lose the advantage of saving fuel and avoiding traffic.

Here's the idea: every train stop has a parallel set of tracks that use a pulley system to stop and start train carts. The tail of the train has a special detachable cart called the "dismount" cart.

As the train approaches a stop, those taht wish to get off will leave their seats and get inside the "dismount" cart. As the train passes by the stop, the dismount cart disengages from the train and rolls onto the parallel track, where the pulley system engages the cart and brings it to a stop. People get off, people get on, transfer luggage, etc. When the next train approaches, the pulley system accelerates the cart down the parallel track (like a very subdued roller-coaster) at which point the "dismount" cart attaches to the tail of the passing train (remember, this train has just dumped its original dismount cart at this stop just a few seconds prior).

The result? You will hardly feel a slowdown between stops as you ride the train to your commute. I timed the VTA line in the Bay Area. It spends half to 2/3 its time dealing with slow-down, stop, load, speed-up operations. With this technology, my 1.5 hour commute could be as short as 30 minutes! That's giving me 2 hours of my life back to spend with family.

There you go!

Around here, during the winter, I dont ride my bike so much and my chain gets all rusty. In order to halt the rust, perhaps a chromium-steel alloy chain? I'm sure you people hate it when you keep hearing tons of "squeaks" when your peddling.

Also, you know how there's always lava flowing away in Hawaii? Perhaps a Power Plant that used the heat from lava to create electricity, and I'm sure it would create many more sources of power. Even better, it would get rid of the pollution made when you burn fuels.

@Gee: There's actually been talk of geothermal powerplants. We still have to solve the following problems:

1: Drilling holes into live cores have a tendency to set them off. Putting in the pipework would be a precarious job indeed!
2: So....who wants to work on top of a volcano?
3: The ground swells and drops a great deal over live cores. Building a secure foundation for the powerplant would be very difficult.

But, not impossible. They ARE working on it.

How about the first holographic television:

Been I thinking about this for a while. I read that dvd is going to be replace by a holographic Disk

Which allows a single 120-mm CD-like disc can store between 60 to 200 Gbytes. Thats when I thought

The next step is to make a holographic t.v. The technology is here but big companies dont know

If there's a market for it. Can you imagine star wars on it tho...

Lol

Plz Admin delete enigma's (or may I say, stupid's) thread!
Now lets stick with the thread name

Man, even the Admin guys are getting censored. Anyhow, things are cleaned up.

My next invention: Solar Batteries. A solar-powered charger is built into the case. So, when you need to recharge your battery, you just set it on the window-sill. No external charger or plug outlet needed, and we'd be saving a lot of land-fill space with them. Flashlights could use a clear plexiglass case so the batteries can get a top-off charge during each day. You could charge your cell-phone by setting it with the backside up on the dashboard as you drive. It would be perfect convenience.

Virtual reality, like on the holodecks on Star Trek.

Either that, or a wireless, comfortable neural interface for computers.

I would like to see someone invent the Anti-Microwave.......a fiendishly clever device which would cool things in the twinkling of an eye, faster than a bag of very fast things on a short day, and otherwise generally rather speedily.

How many times have you cooked fast food in a microwave, then waited 20 mins before you could even go near it, let alone take a very small sample from round the outside, blow it 50 times, then put the tip of your tongue on it to see if it is still nuclear.....

The Anti-Microwave would solve this problem.

If anyone out there makes one, sells millions of them, and then makes their fortune, please remember where you got the idea and send me 25%........what's that?.......ok 10%......oh ok 5% then......

Having the ability to talk live with the people in the same TT server you are in... Or at least on your same team for scrum... Instead of the typing you have a head set and you can live chat with others...

Heh, this has been discussed, and is used in many PS2 and XBox games. Man, I don't know...the trolls are bad enough. That ignore script will become a necessity! Don't want to think about the crap that the female gunners would be putting up with....

I have often thought of how nice it would be to create a better Male.
But alas, God (as told in the Bible) beat me to it..... And I'm not just ribbing ya.
