Google it. There are nice pages with tons of pictures dealing in great details how to install a HD, by brand, compu type, etc. :)

If it's to be your primary hard drive or the only one it need to be a master. If your just adding to an already existing hard drive it need to be a slave. Pay attention to the termination and jumper pins.

Needs to be a slave if its an extra internal one, You may want to look at external but only go with firewire (If your computer supports it) USB2.0 will be too slow

Well if its a really good drive, you would probably want to set it up as the master. I assume you know how to set that up? Also, some drives come with a CD with a utility for setting them up. Here's a tip: If the drive came with a CD that has a utility for formatting it, use that utility instead of windows. It is usually faster. But if you must format with wondows, don't do a "quick format". It hardly ever does a clean format.

And like Hugo said, google is your friend ;)

@ UFO
Just got a 200GB HD for Christmas for my server box. From Best Buy actually, payed about $150, has two $50 rebates, nice. I installed it as master. Was not hard to do it came with directions and all hardware. Read your direction over and go to the website of the HD maker, I bet they have more directions there as well. Good luck! Kinda fun to do.

I don't remember all that well, but you need to be carefull about installing it. I read somewhere that when installing a drive over 130 (I think) gigs you have to have a 130 gig partition + a 70 gig (for a 200 total gig drive) unless you do it a certain way. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can be selected as slave or cs ( cable select ) go to my computer disk management to set up and format xp pro can get it done with no external software needed. Above 130 will require to set up partitions use ntfs
