How do you guys decide on locking the thread?
if its a religion thread and not the creater but a replier says somthing bad,will the thread be locked? Or only he gets banned/silenced?
the thread can continue to live until its inactive right????????

If it is, I dont want my religion thread locked. I'll post up some shockign discoveries on em.. Dont worry nothing over pg 13..but just dont lock it..

When it gets mean and angry and people start launching personal attacks. Also when the previous things occur and when the topic is totally lost in the battle. Profanity tends to be edited. At least, those are my guidelines.

Thx rabban, and hugobrain, but what if I made the thread and I dont want it to be deleted/locked?can I make a request where the person that makes the personal attack, his post gets deleted rather than locking my whole thread? Can you guys make that happen? Cuz I dotn want my religion thread to be locked..please.

Yes, persons post can be and may be removed if they are directed at an individual and not at the topic being discussed.

We all like a good debate and even a good arguement. People need to be able to express themselves as long as it's not vulgar, degrading or abusive in any way. Once those line are crossed, eidts, deletions and locks are utilized.

Usually the thread is not worth saveng and a lock is utilized rather than the time that necessitates clean up.

It all depends on the thread.

How about the thread that says, describe the person above you? Have you taken a look at it napalm?

No I don't reaad all of the threads but if you point something out to me I'll be happy to take a look at it.

If you don't believe me just look through it. You won't find my posts in there. But point me in the right direction. Please tell me who, I don't want to have to read the whole thread. :)

Also we have a private thread (Admin Thread) where we exchange ideas and decisions. Some of us admins will post a link to a thread that might be offensive and then we discuss to what extend it should be edited/banned/locked. We're never sure for we have our personal tastes and beliefs but we try to accomodate a very diverse sommunity.

We now have admins because the pre-admin forums were absolutly unmanageable. Try to imagine a retard that post 500 spams posts and create 100 threads just cause he/she is bored and want to annoy others. Try to imagine logging into a PTT forum and what you see is the same thread with one post in it for the first 3 pages. Or some moron will post once a stupid image/text into every thread thus creating a wide disruption. Anyway we went thru hell and had to kick some folks out. Now I can tell you it's working quite smoothly. Ok as admins we make mistakes but at leats we are to a degree accountable re. You can voice your discontentment and if it's justofied redress has to be done.. But if any anonymous moron posted tons of crapola, without watchdogs he'd never be accountable for the waste of time he inflicts on the community/

Also recently we came to the conclusion that any modifications by an admin should be signed.

Keep on posting don't get discouraged by the occasional admin mishap - it's a work in progress!

Okay how are we suppose to get your ip address? Dash has written the ip script only for admins, so even if we do catch you misusing your power how can a tt player make a case against you?? I can always tell someone to pose as YOU(lone) and make you look bad but without the ip address no one will ever trust me.. So I m complaining to DASH that he should make a script, like the ping script, that will allow a tt player to look at players ip address and only than we can take the picture with the ip on the window and post it on ptt.. @dash:so do you agree???? @Lone: can you make it happen since u want proof?? Please reply to this thread asap and tell the people that you cant make it happen cuz YOU dont want it to happen..am I right lonewolf?? Just a simple question and a request... :( :( :(

I think this is enough. Guju needs to be allowed back to play. All he does is a few pranks once in a while, otherwise he's a skilled player and often fun to play with. Enough.

Like I said I will post anywhere I want, your warnings carry no weight here. The ACA banned you, this is your fault. We will not allow anyone in our servers that use the language you used in the CTF server.

Ok, let's all be realisitic here. Lone is a great guy, he does quite a bit around here to help out PTT and TT. I don't have the pleasure of knowing Lone personaly, and actually I don't want to. (Don't take offense to that Lone) Though I do wish to become and Adim/moderator, and actually do something for the TT world, I feel that what is being done now, is great!

But with Apollo on this one, I must go with him. Seriously, if you guys complain about Ip's and we have no dirrect way of seeing them, other than if we were an adim, which I am sure if you were an adim, you wouldnt cry and whine, you would simply ban them. But here, say you are a person playing in the game, what should you do? YOu have no way to get the Ip's, well right there is the catch, you can't your screwed if it's a moderator. They can do anything and everything they want becasue you can not get the proof. So I have to go with Apollo on this, someone, make another version of the Admin Script!!!! SO we can end this dispute, and weed out the bad admins!!!! B)

This is actually the way it should work.

Players can't obtain IP addresses from within the game.

If you have an issue in a private server just take the screenies. That will show the language and the player name. With the language, player name, and the date the incident happened, we can get the IP from the private server owner. I don't think anyone is going to rewrite the admin codes for players to see IP's. That well-in-fact may be a good idea, but with dash being away and having very little TT time available, I just don't see it happening.

If the serve owner is running a chat logger, even better. The IP, and conversation will be recorded. Not all private server owners have chat logging on, as it does tax the system a little bit.

If your feelinng your not getting results form a particular Admin/Moderator, just ask another one to give you a hand. There are a half dozen guys that can help you out.

Actually you can get IP's in TT, but that IS against the law and you could go to jail.

@Racer, if thats the case why are the admins looking at ip addresss of TT players.
and if you look at most of the online forum, they usually have an ip address of the person that posted the forum...so its not illegal...

And about you guys helping out, thats bs cuz you guys turn your back on people...........even if we did take pictures it would end up being deleted or worst, there would be no investigation cuz admins are involved. Here's the deal from where I stand. I know this may sound a little harsh but, I bow to no one. I say what I beleive is right and if it offends, so be it. If someone is misusing the Admin or Mod priveliges then it needs to be addressed. As far as us moderators go, were all even, no one has more power or ability than the next. The only advantage any one Mod would have would be the effort put forth into the cause.

If you recall, not long back there was a mod named Runwithscissors that was removed becuase he couldn't be inpartial. So it does happen, it has happend and I assume at some point it will happen again. Some mods are just more prevelant than others. If someone told you they would look into something and didn't than that's a blemish on that persons reputation and character. But the entire goup probably have no idea what you asked the one moderator to do.

I have not yet been asked for anything so I sit here and knit myself a nice White Sox sweater. J/k

As far as the IP scriptgoes, inless I'm mistaken the script is a modified dash script. That means every server hoster would have to change over to this admin script so players could pull IP's.

My personal opinion is, I don't read code so I have no idea what has been changed in these scripts. I rarley have anyone ask for an IP from my server although I probably have the most extensive IP list in existance.
If you need me to look at something just ask, but I'm comfortable with Dash's admin codes. I looked at Art Crazy's too, but decided to stick with Dash.

This is all moot when considering it all gets back to the fact that you don't have any rights on another members server. You're a guest on that server. If you don't like the beds there try another hotel or build your own.

As BC said a long time ago, "Playing on somebody elses server is a privilege not a right."

I've beat this dead horse a lot but you must realize how nice the folks really are here on PTT and TT. I play only one other online game and people get booted there for idiocy at the drop of a hat, no questions asked.

Without these folks who have taken the time to write scripts or pay money to host servers we'd all be relegated to the crappy Shockwave servers. I guess what I'm tryiing to say is, don't hate, appreciate. Folks like Nappy, Nutso, Dash, BC, Repent, RX, Rooster and KC are the ones that keep this game going.
