WOOT!! Chilled Lizard just fixed the mission loader for the Mac! Thanks Art for generatiing it, and Chilled Lizard for porting it to the Mac.

Well, the organizational part of me has simply had enough with all of the missions we have now. I decided to organize this just a bit. Here's what I plan on doing. Hopefully will simplify setting up missions for tourneys and possibly standardize how we launch missions.

This will utilize the Scriptline Mission Loader. See the sample below and I think you'll get what I'm getting at.
All you'll need to do is copy the missions you want (which will be listed) adjust the tatal number of missions, and set in order or random. Done!

I nedd all of the mission files and terrain files form each modder that wants theirs included. Seeing I already have Dash' and Monkee mans missions, I just need to hear a yea or nea from them.
So Rooster, KBC, Wiz/Triv, Crapblaster, Racer, are you in? What do you think?

I would take it to the next level if modders want to take arials of the maps and send them to me. I'll generate a pdf for people to view map arial shots.

Just between Dash, MM, and the stock missions I have 80
Here's what I'm talking about;

//#####Mission List#####

Good work napalm... And I'm seeing you're using my script :P
Nice work tough, if this works I hope Freewebs have a bandwith upgrade XD

I will probably host the map pack independently of the script itself. So there would be two downloads.
One for the scrpit, and one for the standardized maps.

Art, I do have a question for you. Normally I launch a specific mission from my Mac. How would one go about launching the server using the mission loader? If I start a mission the way I normally do will the mission loader take precedence?

Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 2:56:49 PM

I have put the mission loader in and nothing happens...

Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 5:56:33 PM

@Napalm
Just put the missions on the prefs.cs file as instructed too, then start a dedicated server with the first mission (well it doesnt have to be like this but its better) and then when the mission loops it'll change

@Sheena
what ya mean?

TY Art!

Art, I have followed the instructions and it omly rotates the mission I started with. It does not rotate through the six missions I have listed in the preferences.

Any Ideas?

Spoke to Nick, and he says he doesn't know anything about this.

What needs to be done to get this to work on a Mac?

Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 3:50:57 PM

Well... I gave the files to him yesterday, and asked him to update the page himself... He didnt do it tough... Nick, you there?

Oh and we just need to recompile the.cs :)

Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 7:29:43 PM

Yeah, I gave up with the mission loader for Mac, It worked but then screwed up... You have to chose the mission as ALL when you launch in Terminal...

I just use a seperate Thinktanks and renamed the files I wanted TT1_1, TT1_2, TT1_3, TT1_4, TT2_1 e.t.c

Yes but that's what I'm trying to get away from. It will be awsome if it gets working for the Mac. I have most of the missions already named and can easily add the new missions to the mod pack so they are all pre-named. It has great potential if it's fixed.

WOOT!! Chilled Lizard just fixed the mission loader for the Mac! Thanks Art for generatiing it, and Chilled Lizard for porting it to the Mac. I'm not exactly sure who will posses this with all of the mision files for download, but if you have a Mac and want the loader files (for the mac) you can email me @napalm_tt@yahoo.com

MissionLoader for Mac OS X

Wednesday, July 06, 2005 at 10:25:44 PM

And there you have it!~

Sweet!

BTW I am still organizing all of the mission files.

Yes, Dash, Roo, Monkee man, KBC, Wiz/Triv, Napalm, Crapblaster, and anyone else who wants their modds included. A standard package so-to-speak.

:)

Hey Nappy, when this is all working (on the Mac) could you briefly explain how this works in layman's terms?

Sure will

Actually I was thinking about it, and I'm not so sure that renaming all of the missions is a good idea. There really should be no need to do so, now that we have a preference that lists the missions to be played. The mission names should be able to be kept original. In doing this we would never have to rename any missions.

There are several advantages to this:
All of the missions would retain the names they have always had, reducing confusion.
All new missions can just be plopped in, just added without changing anything.
No reissue of a standard mission pack with chamged names

For example:
Because we no longer nedd to use GREEN, BLUE, or RED, there's no need to rename any missions.

For example let's say you want a stock maps and three modded maps to rotate.

$MissionLoader::Map[0] = "game/data/missions/TT1_1.mis";
$MissionLoader::Map[1] = "game/data/missions/ShonkiniteSanctum.mis";
$MissionLoader::Map[2] = "game/data/missions/MM_Lush12.mis";
$MissionLoader::Map[3] = "game/data/missions/DB10.mis";

That's all you need.

TT1_15.mis Athletic Amber.

Thursday, July 07, 2005 at 4:26:21 PM

Yeah it would be very cool not to have to rename the mission files!!

Great!

@ CompUComp

All you really need to do is email Monkeeman and ask him if you can have his missions.

He's a good guy.
