Forums Index >> General >> Who would you vote for in 2008?

Page : <1> :

I was just reading in US News & World Report about the two parties starting to pick their 2008 candidates.

Dems: Hillary is supposedly getting ready to run (big surprise)
Reps: Several names are in play: One pairing is McCain & Giuliani. Other names in the line are Jeb Bush (big surprise), Arkansas Gov Mike Huckabee, Mass Gov Mitt Romney & Ten Gov Bill Frist. And for fun I'll go ahead and toss in Ahnold, even though it's damn near impossible for him to get qualified to run by then.

If the tickets were Hillary/(??/Edwards/Obama) vs McCain/Giuliani, who would you vote for?

Hillary vs Bush #3?

Hillary vs Ahnold?

Would it matter to you if the Dem VP nominee were Edwards or Obama?

My nightmare ticket is the second one - Hillary vs Bush #3. I personally dislike Hillary (even though I voted for Clinton originally), but neither do I want to elect an entire family to the White House one after another. ;)

Oh my...please, no more Clinton or Bush. We've seen enough of both, and I gag at the thought of either in power. I have always like McCain...
Good question!

I'm going for the Stinkfingers / 44 ticket.

OM

^^^ agreed.

Please, no more idiot Bush sons! I seriously can't see Jeb running though. I coud be wrong, but I don't see that happening.

As for Hilary, I'm sorry to say this, but this country is not ready for a woman president. Even though I personally believe a woman can run this country as good as if not better than a man, there are still FAR too many chauvinistic male pigs out there who will not let it happen. Sad but true. Maybe by 2012.

Same thing for Obama. From what I know of him, he's probably capable of the job, but I'm not sure if the whole country is quite ready for an African American in the presidency. Still a lot of racists out there. Though I think Obama being elected is much more possible than Hilary.

Personally I have liked McCain as well for his government reform stance, but I don't actually know a whole lot about his politics. Ahnold is evidently a very moderate Republican, but since I don't live in CA, I haven't spent any time trying to separate the truth from the spin yet (and I mean the spin from both parties).

If it's not obvious to anyone yet, I am an independent and feel no particular loyalty to either party. XD

Hillery / Gore

Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 12:15:59 PM

You think Gore would return? I've not heard any rumors that he's got an eye on anything. Would the Dems want to put him back anyways? He's a failed Presidential candidate, and another Clinton/Gore ticket wouldn't resonate too well with the voters, IMO.

Anyways, I think I remember hearing that he and Clinton did not get along with each other. Would he be willing to go back to that?

I don't know...I think Hillary might take it. Not that I'm going to vote for her, but I think people might want to give it a shot (to the demise of the free world as we know it.)

I personally think Gore gave the south a massive soft on in 2000 and would do the same in '08.

This is gonna tick a lot of Dems off, but the only 2008 Dem ticket with a chance in '08 would be Billary....excuse me....Hillary / Miller (yes - the one from GA).

Unfortunately, you'll see a Kerry / Cheney, Rabban / Stinkfingers or a JJ / Tally Ho ticket before that happens.

Donald Duck all the way...

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Stephen Harper!!! (I'm in Canada!)

I personally like John McCain.

Don't care much for Hillary.

I like Obama, but as said before, I don't know if the U.S. Is quite ready.

Hillary already has a long list of misquotes and strange antics. I'm hoping the Dems can do better than that!
Personally, I still want Howard Dean back in action. The guy was definitely honest and unwavering in his views, which was a big part of his downfall (not 2-faced enough to appease to the multiple interest groups). It almost seems like he dropped out because of his strangled yell during Jay Leno (which the republican humorists just pounded that with more repetitive jokes than Steve Ballmer's monkey dance). A pity, really.

On the other side of the fence, I think John McCain is a pretty straight-up guy. I could rest easy in a Dean/McCain competiton, in that I think I could tolerate either one in office.

Joe Arpaio and posse.

Seriously though, I'll do anything to keep Hillary Clinton out. She is evil incarnate.

Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 5:51:54 PM

Really. I was okay with Bill, but I do not want Hillary in. Sure, I'm a liberal, but that doesn't matter. We need something the U.S. Itself can stand. The U.S. Can't stand Hillary. Lol.

Gotta agree with James. I was originally supporting Dean in the primaries until that unfortunate yell that was hammered constantly. A Dean/McCain (McCain/Dean) ticket would go over quite nicely in my eyes.

Too bad McCain is a bit old.
