When I make a dedicated server using Spunkys method on http://supra.planetthinktanks2.com/archives/about-dedicated.asp

When I press enter to load the dedicated server its works and comes up with Sending heartbeat to master server [IP:216.116.32.49:28002] at the end which it is meant to do...

But also because I pressed enter it opens TT, When opening TT it fails, So I click and hold down over the Icon in the dock and it says "application not responding"

So I cant enter my dedicated server. If I quit TT it quits the dedicated server aswell which is stupid.

So my problem is why doesnt TT open properly and can anyone see me server? Its called TTMods, Its on dedicated now.

Not sure if you did this, but it sounds like you need to make a copy of TT. Launch the dedicated server, then fire up the copy and use it to join.

Yeah, I did that just before you posted and it works, thanks for your conribution though XD

Or if you start up TT before starting the command in the terminal another TT will open.

But when I start up TT and hold down apple, alt and Q to minimize it, it Quits TT

What??
Why in gods name would you hold down command (apple) + option (alt) + Q anyhow?
That doesn't even do anything. Minimize? Mac OS X Keyboard Shortcuts
You probably hitting command + Q and quitting.

Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 11:48:24 AM

No alt, apple and Q brings up Force Quit which automaticly minimises any full screen games.

What the hell are you talking about?

Command (apple) + option (alt) + Q

Is the same thing as

Alt, apple and Q

And that Keyboard Shortcuts does not exist on the MAC. Mac OS X Keyboard Shortcuts

The Keyboard Shortcuts for force quit is: command (apple) + option (alt) + esc (escape)

That Keyboard shortcut does nothing on any of the MACs in my lab nor can I find anything on the internet that supports what you say.
What you are doing is probably hitting command + Q and quitting.

If you care to solve your problem then do this.
Go to OPTIONS after the game loads and deselect FULLSCREEN .
Go through the menus to the CREATE portion and make sure your password setting and the kinds of bots are how you want them.
Then Quit the game and start it again. It should not load as fullscreen.
Now go to your terminal and start a dedicated server game from there*.
You should have 2 TT icons in your dock.

* Your command wont look exactly like this but I'm just showing you an example.

Cd /Applications/Games/Think Tank Game/ThinkTanks 1.1 (type return)

(the terminal will reply and want the next command which is like the following but may be different, see directions )

./ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks OSX -dedicated -mission green -game B -log 1 (type return)

MAX

Pedro,

I think I'm kind of late, but you first need to start up ThinkTanks, then make the dedicated server. For some reason, the dedicated server thinks it's using TT itself, which confuses the OS into thinking that you're playing it, so you don't need another thing of it up.

Some people can't see your server probably because of a firewall...have you turned the built-in firewall on? Does your router have a firewall?

It does have a firewall, but im not sure how to turn it on/off, is it in preferences?

Also I dont know why but its on port 82001, and port 82002, when it should be 82000, how do I change that?

PS ive sorted out the dedicated problem, its just that people cant see my server on port 82001 and port 82002.
