NFL, who can go all the way

My choice(s): Eagles (3-1 My Favorite Team), And Ravens(4-0)

Saturday, October 07, 2006 at 11:41:47 AM

Ugghhhh...Steelers looked...can't find a word for it. :'(

At least the Eagles lost too (where I live there's this thing between the Eagles and Steelers fans).

@ KKB: THe bungles lost too, don't talk (yes they will always be bungles to me).

Meh, so what the Steelers lost. If not this year, they'll come back the next. Besides, the season still has plenty of time left.

Memphis is right on about the running game and its importance late in the season. It is a rare team that can play a one dimensional game and get far at the end of a season. That's why I really was not happy to hear that Shaun Alexander is out for yet another week. We need that MVP. Seattle needs more balance in their game.

Seattle still is bumbling around, making it tough, and doing it without their key players. Still a lot of season left, and the key players are about to make their heroic return. (I hope...) Still sitting on the top of their division, oddly enough. They gotta get going or it's gonna be too late, though.

And yeah, Indy isn't getting their due. I blame TO and Parcells.

Player 36: so true. The Bengals are beaten up with injuries and criminals.
Steelers are definately done.
At this point I give the ring to the Patriots or the Colts.
Lots of games left though.

Those sad Raiders. It wasn't much of a game on Monday.

The interesting stuff was the groin shots... OUCH!

Ah, the irony of ^'s post.

The Seahawks really stunk up Candleswamp... (sorry, it will ALWAYS be Candlestick park to me)

The '9ers, my team of old, really pasted one on the Seahawks for a half. The Hawks tried to stumble back, but it was a case of too little, too late. I really can't believe there was even a chance for them to win at the end. They looked like a bunch of hung over old men in the first half. Maybe having Hasslebeck and Alexander back will help next week. (but the D needs to start playing football... Instead of what they did yesterday)

It was really great to see Steve Young hit Jerry Rice for a TD, though. I enjoyed seeing Lott, Young, Rice, Craig, and so many of my old heroes from my Bay Area days.

Three's not to happy either, what with a muffed play for the Colts that should have been a win.

Well Take out the Eagles on the Super Bowl pick, McNabb is hurt, its pretty much over for the eagles this year. The New Superbowl pick is the Bronco's and either the; bears, colts, ravens, or the Patriots.

What about the Chargers?

What the heck is this?

The Packers play the hawks on Monday, but here it is, Sunday AM.

I wake up to this:

8 inches of snow where I live (less in Seattle, surely). We don't see much snow here, and I don't remember this much in one night ever. Is this a gift for the Packers?

Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 8:55:01 AM

Wow, nice greenie. We've got like 38 and rain right now in pdx, but the threat is there. I think it'll take much more than snow for the Packers, though. I think it's also tough to overlook what the Cowboys are doing. The Chargers are definitely going to be a contender, that is, until the Colts take 'em down......

Interesting matchup this evening, eh dinner date?

Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 9:51:57 AM

Philly has about as good of a chance of winning as the snow lasting to the end of the week in Seattle.

^ so true... Just raining in Seattle

But the snow still hasn't stopped here. Over a foot!

(I'm having Upstate NY flashbacks...)

LGM, you have all our snow. Up here in Alaska the snow is just starting to fall and pretty soon I'll be riding my snowmobile. I hope you shoveled your drive way before it becomes a back breaker.

Happy Holidays!

Did that, and I wondered how much y'all have in AK.

I shoveled the first time when it was around 10 inches, and again at 17. Our power went out just after halftime of the afternoon game (2:30 ish PST). Still not on. 22 degrees F out, down to 48 inside.

School cancelled, so the family piles in the car for an afternoon of TT and ebay. (The Upstate NY driving skills do come in handy.) Hope the power's back soon, and I'm ordering that generator I've thought about over and over.

I missed the Colts beating the Eagles. I hope to see the Packers/Seahawks game tonight. The cold we're having is heading toward Seattle now... Could be interesting.

Monday, November 27, 2006 at 1:22:29 PM

Yes interesting. First snow game in Seattle history. I'm down at the Oregon coast right now in a planning session for next year, and we even got snow down here yesterday. What a difference a half can make eh greenie? It is amusing to me however, that Favre probably won't take near the crap that Eli Manning has taken for some obviously piss-poor decision making. A little veteran latitude? Congrats on your win, I think the Seahawks are back in the saddle.

So nice to see the Seahawks do what they are capable of doing. The first half was ugly, though. The snow really messed with what Hasslebeck was doing, and he was rusty. He was doing all his old and ugly tricks.

Not a good idea to spot a team 14 points on turnovers, but Shaun Alexander was looking good. First time all year he looked like the MVP. 40 carries! 201 yds.

The Rams beat SF, so those two teams are now 2 games back, and the future finally looks good. Denver coming up, with a rookie QB.

Gotta agree with Three on the Manning/Favre thing. Favre gets away with a lotta bad decisions, Eli gets roasted for it. When Hasslebeck does the same thing, he gets lit up by Holmgren, and does better.

(BTW, our power was out for 28 hours. Lights came on just about halfway through the first quarter.)

OK guys, things are getting interesting in the NFL.

First, Seattle is trying desperately to make this season as long and dragged out as possible. I was ready to see them become the NFC West champs this week, but instead, they decide to be chumps. I can't believe they lost to Arizona... A sad day. The Seahawks looked like a div 2 college team. Arizona did a great job, and they definitely are better than they were at the start of the season.

But on a brighter note, the Seahawks get to play on Thursday and attempt to avenge their loss to the 49ers. (Note the word "attempt". My optimism is waning...)

I'm really impressed with New Orleans. What a turnaround for that team. 42-17 over the Cowboys? Wow.

Four weeks left, right? So who's it gonna be? I'm thinking this is some team's year to step up and get noticed. The big power teams seem to be slipping (Colts run defense, anyone? Look at last year's SuperBowl teams...) and there are some teams ready to take their places...

I think San Diego will win it all, go LT baby!

Pass the popcorn...

Myself- am confident in the Cowboys for the playoffs- but not for winning the SuperBowl.... Im betting them to, if lucky, win the AFC conferance... Note "If lucky"

60 yard field goals and a run defense that looks like fourth graders playing red rover.........bah. My Colts need some work, but the faith remains.

@ Amorbis........I've got twenty bucks that says the Cowboys won't take the AFC.

I want in on that action...I put 100 down that the Cowboys won't take the AFC.

^ LOL.... The Bengals are on a good wave.. Offense and defense clicking.
Let's see what happens.

WHO DEY!!

Monday, December 11, 2006 at 9:22:45 PM

Bears clinch a first round bye after last night's schooling of the Rams, thanks to special teams and an average night by Grossman, and I do mean average.

From this point on, it comes down to who is the most physical team, who can impose their will upon their opponents. That means 2 things, defense and running game. I see in the AFC, between San Diego and the Ravens. Both are physical teams on defense and can run like crazy. Dark horses are the Giants for the NFC and Jacksonville for the AFC.

Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 6:22:04 AM

Saints and Chargers are my New Picks; Possibly Cowboys but im not sure. Cowboys have the potential, but they mess up easy. I Think the Saints will win overall, if you have noticed how they get better every time they play you will know as well. They have perhaps no holes(mistakes) in their games. If they lose they only lose by like 1-3 points, and if they win they win by like 10-24. The Saints demolished the Cowboys last Sunday 42-17, and the officials say that the Cowboys are the Team to Beat in the NFC. My #1 vote is the Saints.

Talk about a power outage in Seattle... Geesh. I guess that's what happens when you let some great offensive linemen leave for other teams. No run game, no win. Even the refs getting calls right wouldn't have made enough difference.

More fun weather for Seattle, too. 1.7 million without power this morning.

I really am getting to hate football. I guess I'll have to see if the Seahawks can find a way to win one more game. I predict a terrible drubbing in the playoffs, if they get there. Cripes...
