It's you...kinda.

For better and worse, our society has become extremely fast paced. Info never previously available can be found with a few quick key strokes. In fact, we are so bombarded with info we have become adept at blocking out much of what is presented. People want instant gratification, instant stimulation - our appreciation for what is profound is often lost.

Children today seem to have short attention spans, and I can't help wonder if I was that way. You are relentlessly hounded by the advertisers, urging you to buy the newest cereal laced with high fructose corn syrup, or the newest Hummer that gets 8 miles per gallon. You are nothing if you don't buy them...they want it to be your identity...BUY BUY BUY!

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet...

I'm going to keep playing until I can predict what the Bots will do...it's the Bots that keep it fresh for me. Which rock will they hit next? Will they back up or drive right off the cliff? I love those little unpredictable fellers.

This is where I would say Scripting comes in. In some ways I agree with you Aragon, but in others I don't. Prof. You have a perfectly valid point. Although there are some kids that don't buy into that stuff. Unlike some people, I'm not allowed that much money for my birthday, I'm only allowed to get any new video game once a year. I think that all my freinds are really spoiled! But, I'm sticking with TT for good...

Good points Prof. Even though I find it funy that the biggest growth for ADD medication is for adults. Wonder if that is because they always had it, or an after affect of our society today?

^ nice, Racer...

I agree with the comments about media saturation and short attention spans. Also, I think it has to do with which game you play. In my opinion BM is kinda boring. See the tank, shoot the tank. Try to hide a bit, boom, boom, zzzzzzzzzzz.

There's more variety of tasks in the scrum games, and if indie gets old, try TS, it's pretty intense. Then, thanks to scripting and modding, we have CTF and Survivor (when it's up). If you get feeling bored with it, put it away for a while, then come back.

Lots of kids seem to do BM for a while, get tired of it, then give up the whole thing. Aragon has been around longer than me (in his many names), and may feel differently, but I think this game is one that offers challenges at diverse levels.

TS is a game that involves some strategy, knowing when to pass, when to block, and when to kill the other team takes skill.

Most of the time you have to either master or get bored with indi scrum before playing TS. You have to know the moves before you even start playing TS.

I personally find Indi BM very boring, TBM is less boring, Indi Scrum is not too boring, but TS is right up there at the top as "Very Fun."

@ NUTS - I don't do much research on this stuff (meaning none), but I thought I've heard/read that we are overmedicated as a country anyway. The drug companies are more than happy to develop a product for you, and send their cute salespeople to doctor's offices to push their product. Someone once told me the $$$ side of things are actually a BIG deal to physicians. I'm sure this is a generality. It makes sense (hey, doctors gotta eat too), but I would imagine the majority already make significant bling. Is the $$$ affecting their objectivity/effectiveness?

TS and to a lesser degree IS are where I trend. I find with team games you are forced to "multitask." You have to be aware of radar, positioning, decoys, etc. Wiz has made a plea in a league thread for people to play in a 1v1 league. As LGM notes, it simply does not interest me. There is only one focus - me sink bullets in your tank. You only have to be aware of what is in front of you. This is seldom the case in real life. Things fly at you from all directions, and you have to decide how to act on all these things (if at all).
