Forums Index >> Technical Support >> Lost TT sound under 10.4.2

Page : <1> :

I had performed the original fix after installing Tiger ( fix through the terminal as outlined in previous thread).
It worked fine with no problems in other applications that I noticed.
Now that I upgraded to 10.4.2 there is no sound in TT again, well there is "music" should I turn that on, but no shooting and in game sounds.
That is true in QuickPlay, mods and all of the various servers available, including my own.
Has anyone else had this problem with 10.4.2?
Is the work around the same?
Did the upgrade just reset the settings?

Also Question #2
When my sound works I cannot mute it when I want to listen to music (say iTunes). The TT volume seems linked to the system volume and iTunes volume , even when I have TT sound turned all the way off.
The advantage of no sound is that I can now listen to music and play.
But I miss hearing bolo's shots ripping into my tank:)
It would be nice to have a choice.

Thx for any suggestions!

Oh :P I didn't bother to read. Sorry my bad. Oh and sorry I don't know about how to fix it since I don't have Macintosh.

Had to repeat the fix posted by OM in the earlier thread and now it seems to work again.
Strange that others I asked did not have this issue crop up in 10.4.2 for them.

Open the Terminal. Type the following commands:

Cd /System/Library/Frameworks/

And hit Return. This gets you into the correct location for the 2nd step, which is:

Sudo mv OpenAL.framework OpenAL.disabled

Hit Return and enter your admin password to make the change.

I'd still be interested if anyone knows how to play say iTunes/music while playing TT and not have the TT sound so loud.
That is independently adjust volume for TT and other applications and system volume.

I remember there was one application that was featured on MacAddict that allowed you to control sound levels for all applications, but I can't remember what it was called. I'll search for it.

This isn't really working for me... The sound in TT didn't work at the beginning, where I didn't even HAVE openAL anywhere...
I installed it and tried again, but still not working. Then I followed the steps here... Still not working.

Well, you could do what I do...
plug up your CD player to your speakers and listen to that while playing TT.....

@ Baba - Try to go into your Contents/Resources/game/client/prefs.cs file and adjust the master volume there.

From:
$pref::Audio::masterVolume = 1;
To:
$pref::Audio::masterVolume = 0.5;
or:
$pref::Audio::masterVolume = 0; no sound from game at all.

Personally iTunes bogs down my game alot, so I play my iPod through killer Altec Lansing speakers.

As far as the OpenAL.framework issue.
If I remember correctly a different thread suggested going into the System/Library/Frameworks/ folder and switching out the files with the ones from the ThinkTanks game.
