Page : <1> :

Every once in a while, there comes a great scrum game like the one I just experienced! Not one demo or idiotic noob or loser veteran joined the game! It was just a bunch of excellent scrummers going at it non-stop! The group included: 44, homer, wal, blackfoot, merv, ToGoL, speedtreads and myself as Icarus (one of my aliases). I did not have ANY expectations for doing well with this amazing group of players, but I knew that the only way to get better is to play with the best, so I jumped in.

Well, the game did not start off well for any of us except Homer as he promptly scored the first 4 goals! We were all perplexed and baffled by the turn of events, but it was still early, so we all raised it up a notch! Boy did we as no one could score for the longest time as the defense stiffened big time!

Eventually, your's truly broke thru and scored! I was happy. I got my one goal and it wasn't a FB, so I was thrilled. Then I got another incredible goal! Everything I was trying (with the aid of my new Bolo-LilAlienD radar) was working! I could see everything much better and drove backwards better than I ever could before!

Before I knew it, I had tied Homer at 4. Wal then took over the game and scored a couple. Then Blackfoot had a couple of breathtaking runs. Then Homer's dry run ended as he scored to take a 5-4 lead on me and the rest of the field. I did not give up.

Then near the end of the high quality, high impact contest I scored a few more exciting goals with a variation of steals, bumps and bounces and solid runs over the hill top! When the smoke cleared, I had somehow won 7 to 5 over homer and wal's 3, blackfoot's 2, and 44's 1 (shocking, but he played very well)!

I did not know how it happened and know that it won't happen again for a long time, so I will enjoy this game for a while! I took a screenshot just to prove to myself that it did take place! Homer's score is not on the screenshot because he left in frustration before the final score was posted. Can't say I blame him for feeling that way. It was an exciting game no matter what the outcome. It was just icing on the cake that I came out on top!

So, even though most games are spoiled by idiots and demo's and noobs, there is hope that every once in a long while you can have a great game of scrum on ThinkTanks!

Woot! Er...I mean toot!

@44

Thanks, FoFo! Unfortunately for me, this was a rare occurence...where as it is just another day at the office for players like you!

Still, it's always fun playing with the best. I kept waiting for the attacks to jump in and ruin everything or Da Cleaner/Tantilizer or JFDNY.

Or Anonymous....or a whole bunch of demo's who camp and battlemode or dive....argh!!! I guess you get used to those annoying aspects of the game so much so that you kind of expect it to happen just so you aren't surprised when it does. I think you even said, "all it takes is one idiot"....

Here's to more good, clean scrum!!!

Yes I love a great game of scrum,like you said they are hard to come by thanks to all the demo jerks out there lately. B)

Well I enjoyed that game alot too, just because of the fact that I could play 15min. Without a bunch of jerks diving with the scrum or battlemoding everyone. It was for sure a very intense game. GG

@Jinx

Thanks. Hey, why can't we password protect Lush servers? I heard that the reason why the scrum leagues use frantic maps only was because Demo's cannot access them. Maybe the next version of TT will allow Lush maps?

Wal

Ahhh, good times, good times...

That match stood out as well, probably because it's getting more & more difficult to find a good group during the daytime.

(next time I kick yer ass tho... :)

@Wal

Lol... Hey, haven't you done that enough times? Oh wait, you didn't know it because I was using aliases...

Well, I have the scars to prove it, pal! You are one of the best.

By the way, we just played another good game but JFDNY and Hum (Bot) (fake) were going at it the whole game.

I finished on top with 5 goals. You came late, but still got your obligatory 3 goals. I hate you sometimes. :)

Racer was playing too.

@Paisano,

Nothing wrong with Scrum - but Paisano come over to team battlemode - lot of great games there all the time. Good players, and good company,all the elements for a great gaming session.

***Bump***

Just because it goes well with TG's rant about BattleScrum.

This thread proves that classic, pure and clean scrum games CAN still be played on TT!

It does not happen often, that is true, but every once in a while, when you least expect it, a great game will break out!

It makes all of the bad experiences worth it.
