This message is directed to all vets wishing for less noobs posting crap on PTT.

I myself have started to get sick of all the useless, senseless junk that is posted daily on the PTT forums. Racer has come up with the idea of going back to the GG forums, at least for a while...this could be our oasis of peace in a sea of oil and junk that is dumped by multiple freight boats.

Nothing was ever wrong with the GG forums, we just got hyped because of PTT and gradually moved over here...now is our time to move back! Leave the noobs and their sensless cries of "haw dü eye gett TgE tü WÜrk?!1"!! Now is our time to stop the nonsense and go back to talking about sensible subjects! Now is our time to forget how to start flame wars and to remember how to start friendships!

Just stat delelting the stupids guys post or threads.

I understand that the mods are doing their best to keep the site under control, but it's really not enough...we still have 13-odd threads about nothing on each page of every forum. It was great of you, Lone, to clean up all the OLD useless threads, but we really don't have enough people cleaning up the NEW useless threads. Chilled has been known to lock threads from time to time, but that's all I've really seen from the moderators. My idea is that the solution would be to get new moderators, but since Dan has already made it clear that there will be no new moderators now or later, my only other idea would be to migrate back to the GG forum.

Maybe if I see more moderators being actively involved in stopping flaming, deleting useless threads and posts, banning trolls, etc then I will change my mind, but I really do think that this is the only sure way to stop all of this nonsense.

I have watched Lonewolf do his job, and we still have 61 pages of threads, again of which probably 1/2 is total crud. I am really unimpressed by all the other moderator's uninvolment in PTT as well; as far as I can tell, they have done second to nothing...I could be mistaken, but even if they have DONE things, they are not DOING things which need to be done.

Spunky,You may want to think a little bit about what you said.

LONE puts a lot of hours into PTT,he's....a little obsessive with his job,( :P ) but he cleans up tons of spam. You just gotta except that there will always be noobs and idiots.

Anyway,I'd suggest that any mod delete tanty or enigma type threads as soon as they spawn.

What do you suggest the moderator's do? Delete every idiot post? There aren't enough hours in the day! :)

I agree that the quality of posts are going downhill, but how long to you think it will takes the idiots to find the other forum and destroy that one as well? I'm hoping that, like a storm, this will blow over.

Spunky does have a valid point. Although, I remember the GG forums and it was a nightmare from what I recall. I don't think going back there would help at all.

I'm involved in another forum and I must admit that it runs a bit more smoothly. This is simply because they lay the hammer down quickly on any and all morons. From what I see there are only about a dozen people that spam like crazy. Rather than deleting their hundreds of posts. How about a simple warning then account removal? Is it possible to remove a name and all posts tied with them in one swoop? This could be a decent way of doing things if you make the spammer realize that everything they've posted will be gone, including other login names.

This is a kid's game and there is really no way to completely stop it , but a heavy hammer may cut it down. I could be wrong because the other forum I read is on www.fishusa.com and there's really not too many reasons to be a putz there.

The spammers and gutter mouths are easily recognizedl. So why not just remove them if they don't listen to a warning?

^ Exactly. We need to implement a real ban system - didn't all the people who were supposedly banned come back with new screen names? I'm definetly not saying that you're doing a bad job of deleting threads Lone - I can see the evidence...I'm just saying we need to be tougher on trolls and general spammers. Maybe make a warning system?

Spunky... Developers like me roam the GG forums, and a problem with that is the developers would get really annoyed if you posted anything not game related. That was one of the points of making this site. There are basicly no moderators on GG who spend time to moderate the ThinkTanks forums on GarageGames. And Spunky, I would like to argue against you, saying that LONEWOLF is doing the best job of all the moderators deleting the threads. He does a FANTASTIC job. If you want to move to the GG forums and see chaos again... But you can't convince me to move. 8(

Not really sure Sil but I beleive thats what silence does. We Moderators only have control of whats posted. Only DanMac & 56 Lag Man can bann or silence people but we have input on it ! Half the time it is us asking for some one to be banned or silenced ! B)

Maybe Spunky and Racer should go do their own thing on Garage Games or anywhere else. Bet you 10 to 1, they'll be right back here when they realize how much is being done for them. Kind of shortsighted.

Well, we mods can drop the hammer and really start locking and deleting like mad. Honestly I'd be curious to see how long it took before folks starting crying censorship and complaining that we were too strict. I think we're doing a pretty good job enforcing the rules given to us to handle, but if we're to moderate stupidity, then its going to get very busy for awhile until the forums are almost empty.

Of course, I might think a thread is silly, but if it isn't rude or vulgar, I can't bring myself to lock/delete it. Apparently that's what some teens/noobies/drunks want to talk about. This isn't just my forum, but a community and we've got to...uh...tolerate a bunch of different people on several different levels of maturity, intelligence, skills and horse beating.

Honestly, I think a place like some teen forums would do some of you people good. There you can post all your junk. Don't post it here, remember, this is a ThinkTanks community site. So before you post something, ask yourself this question... "Would PTT really want to see/hear this?"

Trolls never ask themselves "Would PTT really want to see/hear this?". Ever. That won't do anything, asking people to ask themselves a question...really, we need a good admin system, where someone like Dan could just type one thing and *poof*, they're gone forever. That's all I'm asking for. I'm not asking for anyone else to accuse me of hating Lonewolf, because I really don't! I will say it again, just in case: I think Lonewolf has done a fantastic job of deleting old threads. What I think that needs to HAPPEN is for a real admin system to be implemented.

This is the kind of stuff that needs to get filtered out; negative comments that do nothing to contribute to a thread...I think this is the second time that napalm has decided that he wants to get rid of his stress by flaming other people; first Racer, now me. If I have to suggest something for you to do, it would be to go punch a pillow or something. I really don't like your negative attitude affecting PTT, napalm.

Rabban, I wasn't talking about subjectivity in relation to threads. I was simply speaking of the punks that pretty much annoy everyone with their spam. I don't even have to name anyone and most will know who the select few are. No need to delete or lock posts simply because you don't like the topic. There is a not a fine line between somebody being a putz and somebody just creating an uninteresting topic. Take for example the, "Am taking -z's name" person that posts over and over. Would anyone care if he was gone? Probably not. I realize that he's a kid but wasn't he disciplined before? It's time for folks like that to go.

That's the hammer of which I speak. I'd delete their name and every post or thread. I'm sure amongst you mods that you could come to a just decision on whether something this harsh is needed or not for a particular person.

Spunky & Racer- How quickly we forget. Allow me to refresh your memories of the REAL reasons we all moved to PTT.com. It wasn't, as you put it, because of the "hype" of ptt. It happened because the GG forums had zero moderation. The trolls, spammers and general malicious types had free reign to cause all the havoc they wanted. Do you forget that idiots were able to spam all day long with cussing, inappropriate imagery and the like? As far as I know they still have no moderation.

I can understand people's annoyed reaction to this thread. I for one, am glad to be in a forum where moderation can happen at all, and am grateful for our moderators. And I know you are too. The moderation may not be to your liking, but that is another issue, as you've noted in your posts here. I just think the way you decided to bring up this topic rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. If you had said, "hey, maybe some stronger measures need to be taken here to control the spam and inane threads", I can guarantee you'd have gotten a better response. But to come in here and tell us we should all exit stage left and move to the GG forums is an insult to Dan and the rest of the moderators, and is disrespectful to -z- and what he started here. (wherever he may be)

My solution to the inane banter is to basically ignore it. In life we often have to put up with some unpleasant things; stuff we'd rather not see or hear. But we can't control everything around us. This forums is similar to that in many ways. Just tune out the stuff you don't want to read. How difficult is that?

In the end, I really think this is a case of not knowing about what we don't see. I can almost guarantee you that there are some posts or even whole threads you never see, because the mods quickly dispatch it if it's deemed highly inappropriate.
If you two want to move to GG to escape the stuff you can't handle, go right ahead. I doubt you'll get many to follow.

I'm not flaming you. All I was suggesting was if you want to go and try it, Go ahead you'll soon realize this is a well managed forum. There will always be threads and people who rub people the wrong way, but that's something you just have to deal with in a public forum.
As far as the flaming, I didn't like the way racer commented on what my son made who is 5 years old. I admitted my reply was too harsh, and I had it stricken. If you don't like it, too bad. In addition, I made a statement to Racer that did not involve you did it? You however decided to poke your little nose into it. (The same crap that TG was doing previously that led to a spat between her and I.)
Nobody asked you did they? So if you decide to go around and state your opinions, especially when it's not pertaining to you, be ready for a return comment. Good or bad.
If I wanted to flame you, I could drive you from the forums without breaking a sweat. I have many years far beyond you youngsters, and would have no problems succeeding in doing so. That is certainly not my intention. I am here am I'm going nowhere. I'm trying to make things better here and have a good relationship with many in TT. What are the two of you doing to make things better? Where are your contributions? Suggesting we go to an unmoderated forum? You must be having other problems and are being too sensitive, or you would not have suggested this in the first place.

The reason PTT was created and why the forums were moved here is that we couldn't moderate GG. So 1 moron was able to destroy everyone's threads and to post ad nauseam without being stopped.

We have an admin forum and are always asking ourselves what is worth deleting. But then we don't want to lose people too. It's a catch-22. :o

Wolf does most of the editing / deleting here.

There have also been some vets who are just flat-out stupid, DEMO (TANTYLIZER) being one of them. It's lousy to hate and say all noobs are bad. Get it straight, ride crooked, Spunky.

Yeah most of it I find inane, and scan right over it, but, heck they are kids.
They can have their armies and chatter and finger pointing threads.
I would love to see it seperated from other topics more.
The armies seperated from the league/tournaments threads was a good start.

As one who lives /works in an inner city and see the brutal and often deadly results of "kids" gone wild, excessive thread babbling seems very tame to me.

Don't forget the financial commitment Dan has assumed for us. We may have to do something else anyway if he is forced to keep subsidizing us. Both -z- and he have other concerns imposing themselves now (hope the baby is doing well Dan).

44 suggested an "ignore" feature that would allow each user to customize their own forum "view". You would simply see no trace of posts made by the individuals you specify. It would be an elegant solution. I've no idea how feasable it is however, and with -z- MIA it probably won't happen here.

Perhaps you could learn how to create and fund such a forum. You could justify the time invested in gaining the skills required by starting a similar forum for your family?

Spunk, for now you can ignore Kristoffer's and Joe the Man's posts. Just pretend they dont exist. Everything will be fine.

I think that a lot of noobs means that TT is growing, which is good, in some ways. Too many can result in lots of spamming, but once they learn what to do and what not to do on TT-Only threads, I think it will clear up a bit. And switching completely to GarageGames forums is a very big thing to to, because if you just look at the member list, there's probably hundreds of people/members that will have to switch. Lonewolf is doing a very good thing, and I'm with him that it shouldn't be for nothing, and it's not if we stay here with PTT. As explained earlier, hopefully the noobs will change after a while, and Lonewolf won't have so much work, and we'll have a better PTT environment. :)

I get the gist of what u r tryin to du spunk but honestly, I didnt strugle to create a PTT membership 4 nothin. Just talk to DanMacDonald or Z and they can help with those pesky nuicanses
