Well I would disagree that it is "etiquette" not to BM.
SOME scrummers are irritated by shooting. I would gather that it is not their strong point (i.e. To shoot), but rather come with "the moves."
I think BMing all the way accross a scrum map is silly and counter productive. You want them smoking, and wait ON PURPOSE to kill them at the goal. Bottom line, while some may get annoyed, scrum has changed and evolved. The shooting is better, and gone are the days when you can win big with fancy moves alone. Modern scrum requires many talent pools:: shooters, passers, blockers, and runners to win against an ever expanding and diverse group of playing styles. My 2 cents...

Yes, I agree with shooting on scrum, because you need to kill them before they get to the goal with or without the flag. Then it'll be easier for you to get the flag without the fear of them lurking behind you and killing you. It irritates many players though because I guess they just want to get the flag, run to the goal, and score without a bullet in the air. The only problem then for them is to not get bumped! I strongly agree that shooting is to be used in srcum because of the advantages it gives you against other players. :)
I agree that BM'ing in scrum is almost always counter-productive and stupid. It usually ends in a giant knot of people sitting in the goal shooting at whatever's in front of them. People end up scoring by luck, not skill. Of course, this also opens up a tactic option for the most advanced of us, that being the mid-air score, but that's not always viable and very few of us use it to good effect.
BM'ing in TS is a whole different matter. That knot in the goal has more purpose. People aren't just trying to shoot whoever's in front of them, they're trying to make an opening for their teamate to get in. At least that's the theory. With good scrum teams, BM'ing is an essential tactics. With bad scrum teams.....well let's just hope they go away. XD
