Who's this anonymous character I keep hearing about?
Nice speech...
I did not blame the community, I simply said that it has deteriorated. Sure there are a nice bunch of guys and gals out there to play with, but there is also a large amount of jerks around.
If there are alot of nice people around, be sure to mention that.
It's the vagueness I don't like in these "I'm too upset to play anymore" threads.
If you're leaving, just leave. Dont post about it. Posting means you probly dont want to leave and you're wanting someone to give you reasons why you should stay.
There actually are a lot of nice players out there, but the number of jerks seems to be rising exponentially. I don't know if it is just the time of day I play or what, but I haven't played many decent games in the past month. The vets are so hell bent on winning that mostly what I see now is a bunch of pseudo-campers that hang out close to the goal and don't want in on the action until the scrum is right by the goal. Then add in the demo camper/battlemoders and maybe a jerk or two and what do you get? A game that's not fun. This is a great game. Baseball is a great game too but if you have half the players running the bases backwards or throwing the bases into the outfield it ruins it for everyone else. I choose not to just ignore them and hope they go away. Maybe I'm just giving in to what they want but I want to let them know they're not welcome in my game.
I know some of you would just suggest that people take a break and come back. What does this do to solve the problem? The problem is the jerks that ruin games. I completely understand when people post why they are leaving. They want us to know that it got so bad they just couldn't take it anymore. I am having these feelings almost daily now. I definitely play less than I did a few weeks ago because I can't find a decent game. This is a game. It's supposed to be fun. Show a little respect for your fellow players, or there might not be any left.
@Demolition,
I haven't played many decent games in the past month.
DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. I play all the time and never have any of the problems you guys speak of. If some jerk enters a server and starts causing problems, I just leave and go find another server to play. 8 out of 10 times, I can find another server that doesn't have any jerks in it, and more often than not, most of the cool people from the server before shows up within the next minute or so.
What happens is all the trolls end up together in one server doing what they do, and all the cool people end up in another, doing what they do. It's like that in real life too. Don't forget man, it's just a game... Have fun or hang up your hat. As soon as the game is no longer any fun for me, I'm outty... By the way things look now, that's not going to happen for a long time ;)
@Atreyu:
That's all well and good, but if you are a team scrummer and not too keen on the other game types, then you normally dont have the option of going to find another server as there is only ever 1 or 2 up and in use.
Crazy concept A: when posting complaints about jerks and such, why not tell us what time you're playing. It would go something like this:
1. I hate all the jerks that play [ m - w, 6-7pm pacific time ]
REPLY: well I play two hours later than you on those same days and there arent any clownasses spoiling my fun. Give it a whirl.
About 10:30 p.m. U.S. Central on weeknights is when I find the best people on.
I keep thinking I am finally done with Think Tanks.....
I have been called a C--T by newbies and demos far too many times.... Not so much fun to play when there always seems to be someone willing to tell you what he wants to do to you in graphic detail....
... At the end of a night of playing, it is often easy for me to say that I am done for good....
.... But then around 10PM the next night, I find myself sitting at my computer launching TT yet again...
.... There is always the hope that next time it will be better..... And it usually is because there are far more good people here than bad....

If you're leaving, just leave. Dont post about it.
Thats what I think too. I mean every ones just going to say "don't leave" or "they all come back". So why post if your going to come back because your not really leaving. Just for a short of long time.

I have allways been about to leave. Yet I wonder how so many of you have been around a lot longer. Probley there were allmost all good people then bad. Maybe us newer people came at the wrong time, maybe we didn't. I came for something better then this...I came for how it was not how it is.

Regardless of whether people announce they are leaving or not, for every person that actually does leave, there are many more who are really sick of it but won't leave for whatever reasons. I know a majority of the people on here are not jerks, but the jerky behavior only spreads as more and more people get pissed off. I keep holding on because I like the GAME. There's something magical about driving around in a little tank with the brain sticking out the top, and nobody can take that away.
Heh, try real life sometime and see the ratio of jerks there! I live in the Bay Area. Yah, TT has a couple shmucks, but I find that the grand majority of people here are some of the coolest I've known. TIme constraints may make it hard for me to get a game in, but it'll take a lot more than a couple anonymous punks for me to leave behind all the other people here.
Women are kind of a special case, since I've seen a couple TT ladies get a lot of ugly treatment that they don't deserve. If they can handle that crap and still come back for more, I think the majority of us guys can handle the occasional bad attitude. ;)

Just a quick positive note to add on this subject:
Last night I played in some great team scrum games. Particularly fun was one where my team...me, bolo, etc were up by a wide margin and the next thing I knew we were playing 4 on 6. I suggested someone switch, but because we were up so much and had a good team, we left things as is, and we continued to pour it on. I had a screenshot but I forgot to save it. I was proud of the fact that I matched Bolo in goals. The team games I played beforet that one were fun too, although at one point it took about 5 minutes to get a 5 on 2 situation cleared up--nobody wanted to switch.
It seems like most of the jerks are around during the daytime, and the recent influx of jerks is most likely due to summer vacation and lots of kids having free time during the day. I don't know why I never thought of that before. I'm not saying kids are always jerks, but playing last night there was a night and day difference in maturity levels.
So, to sum up: Last night was fun, I'm not so bummed about TT right now. XD
Anyone who shoots at a harmless Flea has to be a jerk! Right?
{WalMart free for over 24 months!}
Yes, what a waste of good bullets. ;)
Who said they were good?
Yea demo that was cool....a few games after that it was bolo against 4 green players. Nobody would switch. Then someone switched and then another joined. My team still won..hehe

I've never really had that hard of a time with the quote / unquote "jerks". Yes, I have run into a few now and then, but hell, it's no different out in public.
Something we all need to think about and keep in mind as well - at one point in time we were all new players. There is a learning curve here and we all need to realize and remember this when we are bitching about the quality of competition available at any given time.

I don't understand this. People are leaving saying how bad the "community" treats them, and how bad of a "community" this is, and that the "community" hates them, or the "whole community" is out to get them.
Well, it's getting real annoying. When you say the "community" is out to get you, you are implying that EVERYONE in the TT community is out to get you. So I guess -z- impostored you, or Pokemalo swore at you. They're part of the community also, and I don't see them going around being asses.
I'm also part of the community. When you say the whole "community" is out to get you, are you implying that I'm also impersonating you? Believe me, if I had beef with you, you'd of heard about it by now.
So, if you are in sad enough condition to leave, blame the people who made you leave, not the whole community. I didn't do anything, -z- didn't do anything, and Pokemalo didn't do anything (hopefully ;) ).
It's all anonymous's fault. Blame him. ;)
