I think I've hit on something that may improve some people's game.

I've been wondering why my aiming seems to be just a little off in the game. I whip the sight towards an opponent just to have to stop just a little off target. Dang frustrating to make an adjustment when bullets are whizzing past.

I discovered that my optical mouse has a feature called "Enhance pointer precision" as well as "Snap to". After turning both of these off during TT and pushing up my mouse speed in the game, I've found that my pointer flows a lot freer and goes where I want it to go. I don't feel like I'm fighting the sight anymore.

Its taking a little getting used to, but I can already feel a difference in my game.

...and that's a good thing. :)

I think this should go in Tactics...

Maybe, but who ever goes there? XD

Good point. XD
And not all of us have this software on our computers.

Why am I amused that you must DISABLE Microsoft "features" in order to improve performance. Yet another fine example of bloatware! Dang it, Rabby, I'm having a hard enough time keeping my butt-plate attached in the field. They don't need your help! :P

[Edit: Oops! I originally said 'not amused']

@spunky
Don't allways believe what you read on the internet. Have you tried another windows trick ? It didn't do anything to me all it said were there were no results. I have Mirosoft office word 2003 on XP and nothing happened.

If you turn off "enable pointer precision", and try to do some normal mousing (not in TT) you'll find that it's constantly sliding past buttons, and it tends to miss things alot.

"Snap To" is default off.

James, think before you talk. Maybe shutting up will do you good.

@Nathan: Lighten up. Just providing the usual win-bashing from a fellow Mac-zealot. :P
I'm running a Logitech optical Mouseman with no special drivers and have no "sliding" problems. I'm curious why Microsoft needs such things for theirs. Yeesh, you get as defensive about your Windows box as we Mac-heads get about our X machines.

One 'trick' I've got is that I've programmed in a "burst" of three shots on a button on my gamepad. That seems to allow me to get those last second kills better - I suspect that the act of clicking the mouse button either jogs my mouse somewhat to the side, or locks up my arm muscles so that I can't adjust the aim to keep it on target while firing. Moving the fire command over to the other hand breaks that link.

Just changed the mouse settings on mine then playing a Quick Play - scored 29. Not sure if that's good or not. I suspect it's about average. The aiming could have been a bit freer this time around and just needs practice to get used to it...

Although, come to think of it, I was just battlemoding. No tactical "hiding on cliffs" or anything like that. So maybe it was improved.

I do notice that during regular work it's going to either get turned back on again, or I'm going to have to practice a lot to hit my mark with the mouse. XD

Seemed to help me a lot. I just played 5 min. Of a BM game and got 16 kills only dying once so not bad.

Sorry guys, I got a microsoft mouse and it works fine in game and out--no adjustments needed.

@ Master TMO & baklava

I agree...much improvement. Maybe this is why I haven't been able to shoot worth a crap anyway?

I know there's going to be a bit of an adjustment period for myself since I'm not fighting my mouse anymore, but once I get used to the new, freer movement I think things are going to get better.

I just strictly use an old track ball mouse when I play, it makes a huge difference for me.

I use a touch screen :)

Nice. :)
Downside = cost. What was it? $5,000? $3,000?

UPDATE: I've started using my PC with the mouse "helps" turned off all the time. This lets me practice putting the pointer on "target" in other applications when I need to select buttons and such. In the evening I played a few games of TT. While I'm not doing as well as I was before the change, I am noticing that my aim is better and staying on target. I'm still getting used to the whip-like action of the reticle since the mouse pointer moves to freely now, but its only a matter of time before I get used to that as well. :)
