Miers...

...the last straw.

Just like that commercial...

"I'm stickin' it to the man. But, you're the man. Yes. So you're stickin' it to yourself? Maybe."

Inner circle crap. No experience. Another white woman.

I was honestly hoping for a Hispanic or Black man or woman (far more creative in my opinion), but no.

Hopefully she'll bomb and Bush will have to try again.

<sheesh!>

I know I'm ticked! (icky, icky bugers:)

If I'd known the job was open to those with no judicial experience I would have had my resume in!

I'm with you guys, but you had to expect something like this. She's got no judicial experience to hold her accountable for, and you can't gripe about "the good ol' boy nomination..." (Even though it is the same thing, are we fooled by the mere fact that she's not male?)

Shame, G-Dub...

@ All,

If Hillary is your next president, does that mean that the white house is open at all our for Mrs Clinton?? Will she get back at her husband, and follow in his steps??

My prediction is that Mrs Clinton will have sex with an alien, and give birth to something more sinister than me!!!!

It just keeps getting better and better...

A person who's never judged a case for Supreme Court nominee...

What's next? Jenna Bush as ambassador to Iran? Posthumous Health and Human Services appointment for Spot, the dead Bush family dog?

Late night writers are sacrificing their oldest sons in gratitude right now...

I suspect Tally is probably catatonic at this point.

I disagree with GW's choice as well. He is such a kiss-ass.

BTW, think I read somewhere that something like 1/3rd of all Supreme Court justices have not been judges. So it's never been for judges only. An ex-president was a Supreme Court justice. I don't *think* he had been a judge, but I could be wrong on that. Whoops. Yep, I am wrong on that. (federal judge for the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals)

I have no opinion on this person (hadn't even heard of her until I heard he'd picked a replacement and looked her up). Just posting a little extra info for y'all.

^ ditto. Some of our best judges had never judged a case before in their lives before appointment to the Supreme Court. I applaud his choice. We'll have plenty of time to investigate her and question her in the judicial confirmation process.

I just have to ask;

Do we applaud W's choice because he has acted on and demonstrated a keen awareness of his oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?"

Is his choice another example?

Uhhh... Can you connect the applause to the oath, please? I don't see it myself. I see it more as "preserve, protect, and empower people I like and who will do as I see fit..."

Or is that your point, Flea?

^ Well gee, I hate to always be the one to cast aspersions so I thought I'd pose it as a question.

Personally I'm left with a DOH! Moment.
:)

I agree 100 percent with you LGM.

:::awekening:::

Supra, if you don't know anything about her, what exactly are you applauding?
Will you still be applauding when we don't learn anything about her because of attorney/client privilege?
Why doesn't he just nominate his brother, or his dad? Better yet, nominate me. I've proven that I can be pretty judgmental.... Er, better make that objective .
I have friends who are pretty good at math, but that doesn't mean I want them doing my taxes.
I suspect the right is having a race to see who the last man will be with his head up his ass. I applaud Chief and Rabban for their moments of clarity.
Has anyone else heard the phrase "brilliant legal mind" being tossed about yet?
Neither have I. The only thing I applaud is that with every passing day, this dog and pony show comes that much closer to an end.

I guess the bright side for me is....its all gonna burn. XD

and by "its", I mean all the crap we've done on this planet.

All I see here is just another close tie to Bush trying to get in. We know nothing about her judicial background aside that she is a lawyer. Her past makes conservatives and right-wing radicals cringe, and her closeness to Bush and lack of judicial/constitutional background make everyone else cringe, 'cause we have no clue if she's a crony or what.

Why can't we get any truly moderate judges in, instead of judges that parties/groups want to send in to fuel their own agenda? Last I checked the Court is supposed to be fair and just, but if you make the Court partisan, it ruins the accountability.

That make sense?
