HOME EDITION? Man you got it bad. ;)

Here's how:

Go to Control Panel
Find Add/Remove Programs
Click Add/Remove Windows Components on the side bar of the Add/Remove Programs window
Find Internet Exploder and uncheck it.

Done.

IE is a part of WinXP. It is used as the FIle Browser as well. Sorry, you'll just have to settle for minimizing its use. In the meantime, check out the FireFox web browser.

Ye I got FireFox and IE has got some sorta bug in it and it comes up with an error message all the time saying (Send Error Report, Or Not) Then when I click off of it it comes back and I can never get rid of it and I have tried your method racer.
I need a REAL way I found a tool to do it with but it costs...

Three words: SWITCH TO FIREFOX!!! IT WILL SOLVE ALL YOUR IE PROBLEMS, AND IT'LL EVEN IMPORT YOUR SETTINGS IF YOU WANT IT TO!!!
Do yourself a favor and make the switch. I'm dead serious about this. It's free, open-source, and well supported. (A new version comes out practically every 2 weeks.)

I quote Chong:

He already HAS FireFox.

And that was for everyone in general, not just you, Chong. Everyone could use it.

I found This . It allows you to remove IE with just 1 program!

Is this a scam or something??? Too good to be true... But still, I'm keeping Firefox.

Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 12:45:02 PM

No. But unfortunatly, it only works for 98.

Thank goodness I dual booted 98/xp pro.

Cool! Too bad my mom needs IE to access her school mail account, she's a teacher at a nearby college. And we run 2000 pro... Sighhhh...

Ah yes, when one piece of hell on your computer just isn't enough for ya!
(Couldn't resist. Since leaving DOS, I think MS Windows has been the best advertisement for Linux and Mac that we could hope for.)

^ and to add to that.

Does Microsoft think Windows users are braindead?!?

You mean… they aren't? Huh. You learn something every day. :)

All you people seem to always complain about internet explorer and windows but I never got one error and my system always works above average.......

Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 2:28:24 PM

I also use Firefox. Except for some active x errors it buries IE. But you might want to think twice before completely uninstalling it. You can only get Windows updates with IE browser.
You also should download two free programs to rid your system of Ad/spy/malware. Google for Lavasoft Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. Update and run once a week. Spybot also has immunization for IE so the little nasties won't come back.

I dont know why you guys are always talking bad about IE...ive been using it since the beginning of time...Never had a problem with it..loads pages faster then any of my other browsers(like msn explorer , Firefox and Opra)

Get a mac

Seriously get the new imac mini

Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 4:15:58 PM

Wasnt this about spybots Chong?
Its not the browser..... Its the spybots
Go to Lavasoft.com and get the AdAwareSE for free
It does a great job removing malware and spybots
Many of my clients lately have had the same trouble
lol one guys machine had 452 spybots on it
It took 5 minutes to boot!!!!!!
But after I removed them it booted in 20 sec and could once again
access the internet
Try it

LOL JB and OM.

I'll rephrase the sentence:

"Does Microsoft think All Windows users are braindead?!?"

I have over 10 tweaking tools on the haX-P machine and 8 more utilitys on haX-P too. I have my wimpy Athlon XP 2600+ processor overclocked to 2.2 ghz via the BIOS and my graphics card overclocked quite the bit as a have 4 super quiet fans to keep the system cool, I'm no ordinary user. Stupid Microsoft tries to make things 'easier' for the n00b users and forgets about the advanced users.

On the topic of my Dual-boot:

Why I did this was because WinBlows haX-P runs none of the PC games from 1+ years ago, so I installed 98 to run my older games and they all work fine on 98.
