Years ago before I found TT (yeah there was life before TT!!!) I used to go to WORLDS which was one of the first places that allowed you to chat with other people in what they called avatars, which was your online persona. This was long before The Sims .
On Worlds, you create your own being...choose your own head, face, body, clothes, etc. Etc. You get to visit new worlds or virtual replications of real places like Yankee Stadium, Paris, NYC, the moon, etc. You could create your own world just like we can create new mods in TT. Instead of creating skins for your tank, you created new skins for yourself (avatar).

That was years ago. These online worlds have only gotten better as you will see in the following articles and links.
Worlds is one of the innovators of VR chat. You can play free but you have to be a penguin until you pay for a membership which will allow you to change your avatar into anything you want.

Second Life is one of the newest and most popular virtual worlds.
Larry Lessig (author of FREE CULTURE) visited Second Life.

Here's an example of a couple who met in one of these worlds and got married in real life. Virtual love. Here's a photo of their online avatars .

Here's a story about the exciting future of this technology that could become part of TT. Wells Fargo actually developed a game WITHIN the Second Life online game called Stagecoach Island ! It's part marketing but also evolution within the VR world. It makes sense that new worlds will emerge within these virtual worlds.

Can you imagine the future of TT? We will be able to get out of our tanks and hang out at the TT Cafe or hide out up on a hill and snipe with our rifle...or better yet, actually pull Tanty out of his tank and beat the ever living daylights out of his avatar? Ahhh...yes. That's the ticket.

Final thought: Virtual Avatars could become part of our everyday web surfing as we stroll into online stores and look around virtual showrooms, checkout homes, test drives cars, etc. Get help from virtual sales reps. The list is endless.
