Just wondering if it has to be a round shaped skin (that is, the alpha mask is a circle). I think that is the case, but I just wanted to double check.

I am pretty sure the skin can be any shape, as the alpha creates the actual shape seen in the game. For example in the game/shapes/tanks folder the tank explosions jpg's are square but the alpha's are shaped like the an explosions.

Hope that helps

I've tried making odd shaped projectiles with a matching alpha, but TT always adds a white space to fill out the square in those cases. I've only been able to pull off the round, so that's why I was wondering.

^ no it doesnt. When you make the.alpha.jpg image, its white for the object and black for the space cut out just like you would expect, BUT the image has to be in grayscale. I figured it out the hard way. My bullets are stars. Its just one of those weird things.

I have made a diamond shaped speedy bullet. And IIRC the Tron skin set has an odd shaped default projectile.

@fuji - Uh, yes, it does. Of the two odd shapes I've made, when the projectile was used within the game, the odd shaped artwork that I had created was there along with white filler on the sides to make a complete box. That was my experience, so it did happen and that was TT's reaction to what I had made. Now your comment concerning the alpha needing to be grayscale, THAT'S helpful and probably the solution that I'm looking for, so thanks for that.
