Here's my problem.

Whenever I set up a dedicated server, about 10 minutes after making it, my system will have a kernel panic and give me a tinted screen saying to restart.

This happens every single time that I set up a dedicated server.

When I set up a regular server, it takes about 20 minutes, then TT freezes and gives me the spinning ball of death, and so does every other Internet-based activity that I'm running.

The only way to get the computer working again is to restart. Other non-internet applications work fine even when this happens.

Dual 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4

Mac OS X 10.3.4

172.54 GB Memory

Please help me on this one!

Just found this. I'm getting a ton of this in the console log:

Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8718
Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717

Yeah, I have reinstalled multiple times and it still hasn't worked.
And I have a PC, it just sucks. (390 MHz, 32 meg video card).

I can't upgrade my PC as of now because I have to raise $800 to pay off a saxophone that I bought. (it's a really good saxophone though)

I think it might have something to do with the bandwidth overloading.

Phew, mozilla is spazzing out on repeating text like that, especially when I have to scroll through it really quick....

Spinning ball of death

PC has something like that. Except it's not a ball, and it's not spinning. It's a really purdy blue screen with white monotype writing on it. Really purdy. Purdy purdy. IT'S SO GOD DA** PURDY!!!!! Sigh.

You know, you can change the blue screen to something like the magenta screen of death. It's kind of un-nerving.

I think that if I'm running too many internet apps, that my bandwidth gets overloaded and stops until I restart. Or maybe I'm using up too much of the 1 gig of RAM that I have.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try all that stuff right away.

I repaired the permissions, started up TT, and 5 minutes later, it froze. Maybe I had to restart or something?

Sheeesh....if you were running xp you could just roll back to the last date when TT was working

(mac's...)

@MAX
Thanks for the advice, but it's my dad's computer and I don't want to fool around with it too much.
I'll get him to do that stuff some time.

I read the whole thing, don't patronize me.

My dad is excessivley wonky about his computer, and I can only go on it to play games, go on the internet, and chat...parents...believe me, if I could, I would do what you said.

I recently worked for several years as a Mac Support specialist for a computer lab at Cornell University

Cool! I know some people there...where did you work?

Here is an idea:

Open mac's version of task manager

Arrange threads by cpu usage

Then launch the server and see what processes shoot to the top of the list

Most likely that will be the problem. (could be a software firewall, security, spyware, etc.....)

Use the TT logging feature and see where it crapped out. (I bet it didnt like the video driver)

Thinktanks -dedicated -mission GREEN -game B -log 1

^ is what I use to log the game. Then open console.log (in the TT.exe dir) and look at the end of the file and it will tell you what failed.

Spyware, etc.....

Haha, funny. Mac doesn't have spyware.

It also doesn't have a logging feature, unless that can be done in Terminal...if so, I have no idea.

Now I'm confused. Why would I know about -log 1? What's happening?!?
