About 50% of the time, when I join a Team game, the message at the bottom tells me I'm with X team, but the ranking on the upper left says I'm on the other team. The Ranklist is the correct message. It's gotten to the point where most of the time I don't even read the message, just look at the Ranklist, but every once in a while I forget, and kill somebody on my own team.

Any patches that I need to download to fix this? With the advent of scoring, I'd really rather not have a bunch of friendly fire incidents to overcome. ;)

Thanks.

What game mode are you playing when you see these inconsistencies? CTF? Team Scrum? Team Battlemode? Each of these has its own set of scripts, but it may be that all 3 have the same bug. It would help to be able to narrow the field down.

Personally I never use those team messages that pop up when you join a server, simply because their too long and take too much time to read :)

I too have seen this happen, but generally not when I join the game, but often when the next game starts. It gives me the message that I am on the other team. Something I am trying to find in the code in order to fix. At the moment though, incidents of it occuring are rare and it makes it difficult to pinpoint why its happening and thus how to fix it.

If I manage to find a solution, I'll let you know.

It is usually after I've finished one game and the next one starts up. Just last night however it happened in the first game I joined, which was a Team Battlemode. I *believe* I've seen the behavior in all three Team types. It happens quite regularly for me, so if you want to use me as a test subject, feel free to contact me to work out the details. tmo_2@yahoo.com

I find it does this when two people join at the exact same time, being after a new game loads.

I have the exact same problem

Best I can tell, it happens if the players change while the next level is loading. For instance, if a person cancels out while it loads, or someone just happens to join while it loads. It seems to offset the numbers I guess.

Bottom line: if I have different players (more or fewer) than what I had when the last level ended, the odds are very good that it will announce the wrong color. One time it even called me by the name of a player who had just left when the level loaded.

Running TT 1.2 on MacOS X 10.3, G4 iMac on a DSL connection.

Well I saw this happen for the first time on Sluggy's server (told me I was on the Green Team). It happened when a new game started, just as you mentioned -z-. I normally never pay attention to those messages myself, but for soem reason this one caught my eye. For a brief moment, I thought some kind of auto team switching happened that I didn't know existed, but when I checked my team color in the list, I was on Blue. Strange.

Messed with my server for a bit to check this out. I can reliably reproduce the bug:

1: start the server (team game)

2: run and connect about 3 client sessions to the server.

3: wait for the game to end.

4: while it shows the stats, disconnect a client.

5: when the next level has loaded, one of the clients will show and incorrect team color.

I don't exactly know where the script calls CenterPrint(), but it is apparently using old data. Seems strange, because you'd think it would just call CenterPrint(clientID,"You are on the ",clientID.team(),".");

Not a developer, so this is as far as I can go. If you can offer me other ideas on how to nail this down, let me know.

Could it be that when a client disconnects during the stats screen display like jb said, and at the same time another player joins without explicitly specifying a color??? (you can pick green, blue, or not pick).
