I request that the New Topic title can only be 45 characters long, and post be limited to 2 of each smilies per post.

I believe that this would cut down on the endless smillie spam, and the ever hated layout messing up topics.

I think this is very good idea, but 45 characters? That sounds many. But all I would want to as restriction is that the forum pages would work normally. Not that you have to scroll first down sometime to actually see the first post.

Yes that is a good idea! I also agree with triv 45 is way too long make that like 30.

A sensible request and good idea Michael. However, I'm not sure that limiting the post title is actually going to completely make the problem go away. I submit that the real issue is that PTT doesn't know how to hyphenate titles. For example, look at Chong's recent post:

Today Racer445 and Chong where reported missing, the FBI said they where hiding underground.....

That title is over 90 characters long, twice the amount you propose limiting it to, yet, it doesn't screw up the thread formatting as far as I can tell.
However, a much shorter thread title, such as the "weirdest name ?????????????????????????????????????" one you mentioned up above will mess things up. The main difference between these is that Chongs title has spaces in it, indicating breaks in the wording. The ???????????????…'s in that other title throws the site into a tizzy since it doesn't seem to know how to hyphenate such a long "word"

Still, it's a good idea which will definitely help. And I like the limiting of smileys too. That should have been done long ago. Whether we'll ever see these changes is questionable though, with -z- being MIA. Can DanMac make these changes? Not sure. But let's hope so.

I suggested 45 because if you count how many spaces from the title start to the end of the line, it is roughly 45 characters long.

Nice point, I was just trying to make it a tad easier to implement.
But also, couldn't you say "Racer and Chong were missing..." 32 characters, and also makes people want to read it because it is so mysterious. :)

Maybe if we think all of this up ourselves it will be implemented because little work will be needed. :)
